Sorry if it is a repeat. _________________________ Has the connection ever been made between Ignatius Sollers of Ross Co., OH and Ignatius Sollers of Vermillion Co., IN? Although the following information is on our Sellers website under both Vermillion and Ross, but unless I missed it, the following phrase "In 1828 he sold his farm in the Township of Deerfield and left Ross Co., OH for Eugene, Vermillion Co. IN" is not included. The source of this information is at the top of the following entry. IN. DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP OFFICERS Deerfield was organized as a separate township of Ross County, July 7,1804 from a portion of Wayne (now in Pickaway County), Union and Concord townships. The first entry in the record book of Deerfield Township is as follows: At an election held on Monday, the first day of April, 1805, at the home of Jared Davis for officers of the Township of Deerfield, the following were duly elected: SAMUEL LANGDALE, clerk, sworn before Chas. Cade, Esq. PETER JACKSON, trustee, swore himself contrary to law. WHITE BROWN, trustee, sworn before Peter Langdale, Esq. JACOB DAVIS, trustee, sworn before Peter Jackson. IGNATIUS SELLERS (SOLLARS), overseer, sworn before Peter Jackson. SIMON HORNBECK, overseer, sworn before Peter Jackson. JOHN TIMMONS, fence viewer, not sworn according to law. ABRAHAM ATER, fence viewer, not sworn accord. to law. JOHN SEWELL, listener, sworn before Charles Cade. JOHN BAKER, supervisor. JOHN CLARK, supervisor. RICHARD WILLIAMS, constable, failed to give bond according to law, of course his election is void. JOHN RIDDIN, constable. JOHN McLAIN, trustee, appointed April 19th in room of Peter Jackson (replaced Jackson). JAMES BLAIR, constable, appointed by trustees April 25th. NOTE: Ignatius Sellers (Sollars) and Simon Hornback are also recorded as "assessors" in an earlier history relating to this same information. JURORS The first jurors appointed in Deerfield Township were: Michael Alkire, John Timmons, and Isaac Cade, as grand jurors; Abraham Ater, Samuel Phebus, Steven Timmons, and Moses Colvin, as petit jurors. These appointments were made at the annual meeting of the trustees, held Monday, March 3rd 1806 for the ensuing year. . The Abstract of Wills of Books A., B., C., & D., Ross Co., OH., page 103 give us the following: Oct. 26, 1818, No. 110, page 120: Henry Kuykendall of Ross Co. Ohio. My Wife. My sons Isaac, Abraham, Henry, Jacob and Executors hereinafter named "to consult and agree upon what part of my perishable property can best be spared from the use of my family and that such part so set off after being appraised be sold at public vendue (venue?)." Wife, Elizabeth one half dozen pewter plates, etc., one pewter dish. Sons John and Archibald under age. Daughter Polly. Daughter Kitty. "I desire that my sons Abraham, Henry, Jacob, John and Archibald give to my daughter Peggy Thompson, wife of James Thompson." To Peggy Nolin daughter of William and Elizabeth Nolin my daughter. Rest of children of William and Elizabeth. Daughters of Kitty and Polly Kuykendall. John Stipp. Daughter Sarah Kuykendall. Executors Joseph Cardner and my son Isaac. October 26, 1818. Witnesses: John and Jonathon A. Hall and IGNATIUS SOLLARS. A CODICIL (appendix to a will) made with named witnesses.
