>From the Pennsylvania Archives Revolutionary War Military Abstract Card File (online). Note that the cards represent abstracted information that varies greatly. It lists members of the militia, the navy, and PA Continental line troops. It also includes names of those who were fined for not serving and a few who were either excused from duty or moved away. Most of the cards bear a note at the bottom that says that it either does or does not prove military service. Copies of the originals are NOT available by mail from the archives. I know this to be true since I tried to obtain originals for my "uncle" John King and my "grandfather" Richard King. I wanted a list of those serving with them in the once case where they served together. I was informed that someone must go in person to make copies. (I would be happy to pay, if anyone is available to do the job�please let me know.) I tried to find all of the possible spellings, but there are probably others. Also, some cards are out of order. Finally, it is clear that the same soldier was sometimes listed under different spellings. The list below does not indicate how many cards were found online. Some have only one; others have many. I have listed the surname once, the first name once (including some variants), and the county or city once for each man. Finally, I can identify some of these men in our Sellers files. Think it would be a good idea to match as many as we have recorded elsewhere. Marie, I am looking for Sellers surnames in different places and want to know if I come across names...most don't pertain to me, would you want me to send them on to the group just in case they might fit with someone? There is a possibility that they are already posted and I wouldn't know. If so, would it be good to post the names then cut and paste the web address where they were found as some sites say you cannot copy without the consent of the researcher who posted them online.
