Her parents were John M. Snider and Susannah Oswalt both born in SC. Hilliard and Rachel had I think nine children their names are: William Hilliard b 1825-1875, Julie Ann b 1827-?,Isaiah b 1830-?,Lucinda b 1835-1888,George Alexander I 1835-?, Mary Frances b 1838-1902, Mahala b 1842-?, Ackillis 1845-1906, Lethis 1848-?. According to the The Tuscaloosa Heritage Book at the library, Hilliard and Rachel were some of the first Black Dutch settlers in Tuscaloosa County. And the book also states that they were Cherokee Indians. I have always heard that my Sellers line had indian blood in them. But I am at a dead in on who Hilliards parents are. Rachel's family originally came from Switzerland.
