I did a check at the Land Patent records at the BLM website and found a one entry. _http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/_ (http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/) Absalom Alexander Sellers of Harrison Co., IN, 40 acres located in Vigo County, 28 Oct 1835. Maybe they moved to Vigo before going on to Iowa and then Kansas. Another place to look. Jim Sellars

    3. Hi Jim, Good catch with the Land Patent record. Absalom was always either "A. A. Sellers" or "Absalom A. Sellers" in the census records from what I've seen so far, so this would appear to be him. Looking at the map, Harrison county on south-southeastern border of Indiana while Vigo is on the western part of Indiana on IN-IL border. Looks like Vigo may indeed have been a stop over on the way to Iowa. Shame we can't go backwards in time and find father James somewhere and prove or disprove that he ties to Rockingham county, VA. Great find, Jim, and I'm sure this will help a lot. Vigo lays across the river from IL, where Absalom had kids in 1836/40 IL MARCH 1, 1830 (Daniel's will/probate) = ABSALOM SELLERS , HARRISON CO, IN But, NOT on June??1830 census as SELLERS. I didn't see in IN or IL, ?? 10-30-1830 SELLERS EBSAMON married  HARBERSON JANE  , HARRISON CO, IN He still was living close OR came back and married this gal. 1836 IL, dau Jane born 1840 IL, son George born JUNE? 1840 LEE CO, IA ABSALOM SELLERS = A. SILLARD JAMES SELLERS A CW file on George H. 1840 IL may show birth place if borned before 1840 Census. Info on dau Jane may show birth place. But, really won't help pre 1820 IN. MEEK kids may help, but the ISAAC AND SYLVESTER MEEK in 1820 HARRISON CO, IN Seem to come from Brooke Co., West Virginia and Anne Arundel County, Maryland Didn't read their 1830 cenus and see who living with.
