I don't think Lucullus Sellers line is related to the Andrew Jackson Sellers line. The Madison Co., IN Sellers are descendants of Isaac and Nancy Brandon Sellers line back to Kentucky. Andrew Jackson Sellers family appears to trace back to Rockingham Co., VA according to Delilah Sellers Davis' obituary (1892, which I have not seen) who was the brother of Absalom Sellers of Harrison Co., IN. and later Iowa and Kansas. Saw this at WorldConnect. _http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mahaska&id=I23732_ (http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mahaska&id=I23732) You may want to contact the researcher who has the obit as I believe it mentions Absalom Sellers of Kansas and another sister. Delilah was married in Harrison Co., IN to Edward Davis. Jim
JIM, thanks, just sent them a letter and will post any reply I receive. I see NOTHING in my VA records on Absalom. Mahaska, Ia connects mostly to Ky I see NO proof to John Sellers 1822 IN with son Lucullus With his parents or relation to Absalom Sellers 1808 VA in 1840 with father? JAMES SELLERS 1760/70 VA? And son ALEXANDER JACKSON SELLERS (no Andrew Jackson here that I see) Maybe on their side of family? (would you still name kids after a cousin, ? Maybe, if you lived close) ABSALOM and JAMES SELLERS In 1840 LEE CO, IA MUST be checked out. Thanks for helping. marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Monday, September 11, 2006 10:10 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [SELLERS] {not a subscriber} family of Richard Warren Sellers:Topeka... Marie & Jim, I don't mean for us to go down another path in the midst of the Lucullus Sellers discussion, however, I'm terribly interested in the mention of Delilah Sellers Davis, her siblings, and their possible connection(s) back to Rockingham county, VA. Most of the time when a Sellers traces back to R'ham county they are of some relation to me. The mention of "James Sellers 1760/70 VA" as a possible father to Delilah, brother Absalom, and another sibling, Phoebe, is a real eye opener that I'd like to explore. In his 1984 book, "A Preliminary Study of the Descendants of Heinrich Zeller", Frank Sellers wrote that Heinrich (Aug. 17, 1704 - ca. 1773) probably had a son named Henry Sellers who died ca. 1787. It has been reasoned that Henry may have had a son named James Sellers around the time frame of 1760/70 in Rockingham county, VA. Unfortunately, James has not been confirmed nor has Henry been positively proven. However, the names Delilah, Absalom, Andrew, and Phoebe were prevalent in lines of Henry's purported siblings in the late 1700s and early 1800s. Absalom was mostly in the form of "Silem" or "Silom". A James Sellers appears on the 1810 Census for R'ham county, VA, as well (page 136, line 577): James Sellars: 20010/22010 James does not appear on the 1820 Census for R'ham county, so I'm wondering if perhaps he is indeed the "James Cellers" in Harrison Co, IN, in 1820, and the "James Sellers" living next to Absalom in Lee county, IA, in 1840. I'm very interested as well in the obituary for Delilah Sellers Davis and in the info it might contain. Thanks for your patience in my rambling.
