This deed below was transcribed by me from a copy of the original record included in the deed book. Although the spelling of the name as noted in the document is Sellars, the more traditional spelling for this family is Sellers. My paternal great grandparents are S. H. Maston and his wife, Rose (usually identified as Sarah or Sally) Sellers Maston. Know all men by these presents, that we, T. M. Sellars and wife, S. E. Sellars, and the following named heirs of Letta Sellars, deceased, to wit Mary C. Case and her husband, J. J. Case, Rose Maston and her husband, S. H. Maston, Addie Letis Kerr and her husband, A. J. Kerr, that for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to be paid as hereinafter mentioned, I do hereby bargain, sell, transfer and convey unto J. C. Rollins, his heirs or assigns forever, all of our rights, titles and interest in and to the following described tract of land to wit lying in the first civil district of Jefferson County, Tennessee, and known as Charles M. Bailey tract of land and more particularly described as follows: bounded on the east by the said J. C. Rollins on the north by Jones, on the west by E. A. Frann, on the south by the G. A. Bettis farm, to have and to hold our interest in said land unto the said J. C. Rollins, his heirs or assigns forever. We hereby obligate and bind ourselves, our heirs and legal representatives to defend the title to each of our interest in said land for the consideration of this conveyance the said J. C. Rollins has executed and delivered unto T. M. Sellers his promissory note calling for fifty five dollars ($55.00) with interest from date and bearing even date with this deed and a lien is hereby retained on said tract of land to secure the payment of said note. The said J. C. Rollins has executed and delivered unto Mary C. Case his promissory note calling for fifty dollars with interest from date and due eighteen months from date bearing even date with this deed and a lien is hereby retained on said tract of land to secure the payment of said note The said J. C. Rollins has executed and delivered unto Rosy Maston his promissory note calling for seventy five dollars with interest from date due twelve months from bearing even date with this deed and a lien is hereby retained on said land to secure the payment of said note. Rollins has executed and delivered unto Addie Letis Kerr his promissory note calling for seventy five dollars within interest from date due twelve months from date and bearing date with this deed and a lien is hereby retained on said land to secure the payment of said note.
