CHARMAINE, Thanks for the helpful documents. YES, when we don't have ALL documents, makes you think we don't have all possible info! marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Sunday, May 27, 2007 10:58 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [SELLERS] Margaret Minerva Sellers of Sellers Family from NC,TN & MS, wi... There are several marriages listed in Haywood and Macon Co., NC for Thompsons who fit the bill to be children of Nathan Thompson. I haven't worked this Thompson connection to a great degree in connection with a number of the other families who moved from Burke/Rutherford and are found living near each other, intermarrying. Haywood Co., NC marriage bonds: 7 Jan. 1815 Thomas Thompson and Nancy Enloe - bondsman: Asaph Enloe (this is the "Sersop" Enloe who is listed 2 households from Nathan Thompson and next to James Sellers on the 1830 Haywood Co., NC census) 11 Aug 1820 Polly [Mary] Thompson and Alexander Crisp bondsman; Jacob Shuler (note Shuler's are neighbors of Nathan Thompson in 1830 Haywood and 1840 Macon Co., NC) 20 Nov 1823 Esther Thompson and Joel Sawyer bondsman: Alexander ? - think this is Alexander Crisp. You mention this marriage - interesting side here, one son of this marriage, Nathan Thompson Sawyer married a daughter of William Cathey. William Cathey followed the same basic migratory route. He was the son of George Cathey, Jr. George Cathey, Jr and his family were in Burke Co., NC 1790, moved into Buncombe 1800 (area which became Haywood in 1808, then into Haywood. William Cathey moved into Macon Co.) 30 Jan 1824 James Thompson and Betsy Wilkins 25 Feb. 1825 Jesse Thompson and Rachel Welch bondsman: Nathan Thompson Macon Co., NC marriage bonds: 3 Jul 1831 Elizabeth Thompson and Ute Sherrel bondsman: Andrew Welch (note that Jesse Thompson had married a Rachel Welch in Haywood in 1825). This is Nathan's daughter who appears living in his household in 1840 Macon Co., NC - Elizabeth Sherrill age 64 born Lincoln Co., NC. Any idea who the 14 year old Henry Rader, born Burke Co., NC is in this household in 1840 Macon Co., NC. Is it possibly a grandson? No listing for a Thompson (sometimes also spelled Thomasson) and Sellers marraige in either county, not Burke or Rutherford counties either. Possibly the marriage took place in Buncombe Co (Buncombe still hasn't any marriage bond records available on line, and Buncombe still hasn't published any source material) Or, the bond was damaged or destroyed and didn't survive. Or was by bann instead of bond.
