I mentioned it drives me nuts when I can't find people that should be in an area and I can't find them on the census...well success! And I think I may have found our girl (if we can discover where Judge was hiding in 1880)! 1860 Yancey Co., NC census Childesville P. The next door neighbor the husband was Mulatto and the wife White. If this proves to be the right Louisa then perhaps the father of Judge was Mulatto also. (Remember this was prior to the Civil War)There were also some all black households as neighbors. I have to do work on the 1870/1880 censuses next to see if I can find the whole family group. We aren't completely there yet, but the pieces are starting to fall into place. And Brandy, in answer to your question. I grew up in North Carolina, where most of my family and husband's family still live. Both my parents descend from WNC families which were there prior to the Revolutionary War and never left. My Dad's family was from McDowell Co., NC, and my Mother from Yancey Co (although her maternal Grandmother was born and raised in the North Cove of McDowell Co., NC.) So my roots are long and deep to the area. I live in Florida. I've been here for 28 years. I was just in Asheville for over three weeks. Of course I had the "pleasure " of that nasty snowstorm that hit on March 1st. I hate snow, that's why I live in Florida! My Sellers family line is from Robert Sellers, Sr, through his daughter Rebeckah Sellers who married Moses Wilkerson in old Burke Co., NC. This is one of my paternal lines. (If you want my line run down, do a search for Sellers on Google and find Marie's Sellers website. If you look under Burke Co. you'll see Charmaine's Page, click on that) Now if we can hook all these Sellers lines together we can start calling ourselves cousins. 3. Good work, Charmaine! My post to the board didn´t work. Just wanted to ask if you ever saw the pages that Ton Kryssbek compiled for my Sellers line - Marie posted them on my page. Looks like we may be cousins via Robert, Sr. to John + Margaret to James. -----Oprindelig meddelelse----- Fra: sellers-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:sellers-bounces@rootsweb.com] På vegne af gc-gateway@rootsweb.com Sendt: 7. april 2009 06:12 Til: SELLERS-L@rootsweb.com Emne: Re: [SELLERS] Louisa Sellers This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
