Would like to mention that, according to the family group pages on my page, it is thought that James Manson Sellers, is thought to have been the son of James Sellers b. ABT 1796 NC and Jane Thompson b. 1797 Rutherford NC. From reading the Sellers pages it is thought that James was the son of John Sellers b. ABT 1758 NC + Margaret UNK and that John Sellers is thought to have been the son of Robert Sellers, Sr. d. 1800/1810 Burke Co. NC + Sarah. Jack and Lee have other perfect haplogroup (R1b) + 12 marker matches that fall into these family groups: 1) 14803, 23989 and 34253 (who is actually 2nd cousin of 14438, who is off by 1 marker at marker 19, where his is 13 and the others are 14). This family is thought to be David Sellers b. ABT 1760 > Young Sellers b. ABT 1789 NC > and so on... 2) 26552 (Warren) is of Robert Sellers, Sr. d. Burke Co. NC 1800/1810 > Robert Sellers b. 10 Mar 1765 NC and d. 2 Nov 1827 Washington Co. IN + Sarah Hall, etc.. 3) 41098 is of Laird Sellers b. ABT 1771 NC and d. 1862 MO.... The above is very sketchy as to the trees people have provided, so just a resume of sorts. What´s interesting is that these people, who have been speculated as to having been related, do appear to be. But as you say, more extensive tests are needed, and I agree that it might be better for all, to upgrade one or two at a time. As discussed previously on the list, upgrades should perhaps not be funded from the general fund, which might better be used by recruiting new lines. So, for a start, I´d personally be willing to sponsor an upgrade of Warren´s and Lee´s tests, in part or in full, if need be. I see that FTDNA has a NEW sale through July as to 37 marker tests and asked them if they would consider giving a bulk discount for upgrades from 12 markers up to 37 markers, for the same price difference.
