    3. Charmaine, This is quite fascinating to me. We just recently found some "evidence", not yet verified, if it ever can be verified, that the father of Rice Farrar Ross (a Rice F. Ross b. 1757 and d. 1819), 2 of whose children, md. Sellerses (Oliver Franklin Ross md. Margaret Minerva Sellers and Emily F. Ross md. John W. Sellers), was supposedly bd. in the Ragsdale Cmty in Coffee Co. TN, in a grave only marked with a rock. He d. 1819, in what would then have been Bedford Co. TN. Am of course, trying to confirm this in any way I can. According to an account by a Milner Echols, written in 1850, Rice Farrar Ross´s father (so possibly this Rice F. Ross, not confirmed), a "Mr. Ross" md. a daughter of "Old" Vardry McBee, whose name, Milner Echols did not know. Milner Echols´ account of his family history was quite rambling sometimes, but I have found that everything he said he knew, checks out. One thing he said that checked out, was that some of the associated families of "Old" Vardry McBee,! i.e. Echolses, Williamses and Andersons migrated to TN, very early. Also found that there was a William McBee in Franklin Co. TN in 1812. The Halls were also associated with my Sellers family, in that the sister of Jane Thompson (who md. James Sellers), Ruth Richardson Thompson, md. Joseph Buchanan, and 2 of their children md. Hall children. So, as we already know, these families were intertwined and wandered around together in the same circles and sometimes diverged and sometimes went back and forth from one place to another. Sorry for my own rambling and not documented account but sometimes we need to let our minds wander in seeking new paths for research and I think you are on to something here. We need to examine any "old" TN records we can find and also MD records and perhaps VA records. I didn't have a couple of these land transactions. I will try to follow up on those. I also am wondering, after the new John Hall/Moses Hall/Robert & John Sellers information, whether the "John Sellars" found as a signer of the "Petition of the inhabitants of the Western Country," dated Dec. 1787 and presented to the December Legislature of North Carolina in the attempt to establish the State of Franklin, is the Same John Sellers connected to Robert Sellers in these documents. The time period/date seems to indicate it is most likely the same person. I also found an earlier reference concerning Robert Sellers applying for the Sullivan Co. land grant: On 16 March 1779 Robert Sellers requested a 300 acre land grant in Washington County, North Carolina. The Entry Book recorded it on 17 June 1780 next to “Humphrey Hogan’s old improvement on the south side of the Holston River ” in Sullivan County. On 10 November 1784, Sellers was granted 267 acres of this land in Sullivan County, Tennessee on South side of “Holstein River (Holston).” Goodspeed’s History of Sullivan County, Tennessee Appears to be in the same area as John Hall's entries, which he wrote as Shoat Ford in his letters. This is believed to be Choate's Ford which is present day Bluff City, Sullivan Co., TN.
