    3. I think "F. G. Scantling" was likely "Florence Ethel Scantling", a daughter of Charles W. Scantling and 1st wife, Mildred A. Ladd.  She was listed as "Ethel M. Scantling on the subsequent 1910 Census and as an "Asst Matron" at that same Samuel Miller school.  She was a full sister to the Frederick William Scantling in question.  I'm not sure about the identity of the rest.   Two other sisters of Fred's, Lydia and Hattie, were listed on the 1900 Census living in Baltimore, Maryland, in the household of Alex B. Randall.  I do not know what, if any, connection there was to the Randalls.  Still, I cannot find Fred, his possible father, Charles, or even Charles' mother, Mary E. (Clark) Scantling, on the 1900 Census.   Michael  --- On Wed, 9/9/09, Jim Sellars <jimsellars@ymail.com> wrote: From: Jim Sellars <jimsellars@ymail.com> Subject: Re: [SELLERS] Scantling-Sellers info needed To: sellers@rootsweb.com Date: Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 11:31 PM Here are some other Scantlings in Albemarle in 1900: - F. G. Scantling (indexed under Scanthng), female student, born March 1885, in Samuel Miller, Albemarle Co., VA. - Creed Scanlan, born June 1897, grandson in household of J. C. Thompson, Samuel Miller, Albemarle Co., VA - G. M. Scantling, male born Sep 1874, Samuel Miller, Albemarle Co., VA - Lizzie Scantling, female born Oct 1883, servant for Bernard Thacker, Charlottesville, Albemarle Co., VA It was interesting that the M. E. Scanting, female born 1833, of Samuel Miller, was shown as married and not widowed. I think many pages may be missing (at Ancestry.com) out of the 1900 census. When I went through them page by page I noticed many are in the database twice. Jim Sellars ________________________________ From: Georgia L. Scantling, possible/potential father of Frederick William Scantling, was listed as age 70 on the 1930 Census for White Hall District, Albemarle County, Virginia. Since an Obituary for Charles would be more recent, it might be worth hunting for his obit as well to see if any and all children were listed. The Local Genealogy societies, usually located at libraries, collect ALL this info. Some on line now. COUNTY/STATE USGENWEB should get you close to an address. Many you write and a very small donation keeps them happy. marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: sellers-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:sellers-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Beverly Taylor Sent: Tuesday, September 08, 2009 7:43 PM To: sellers@rootsweb..com Subject: Re: [SELLERS] Scantling-Sellers info needed I don't know about others, but I have had a ton of luck getting obits by calling the local libraries in the cities that I am finding people died. An occasional $5 charge can get a lot of obits with the death dates known. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SELLERS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SELLERS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SELLERS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SELLERS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SELLERS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
