Genealogy.com lists a Fred Scantling in Kentucky in 1900, whom I can't find on Ancestry.com. I don't subscribe to that database, so I can't see any other information. Maybe he was in Kentucky for a while. I did notice that he and his wife Carrie were in Dayton, OH in 1910. G. Scantling (indexed under Scanthng), female student, born March 1885, in Samuel Miller, Albemarle Co., VA. - Creed Scanlan, born June 1897, grandson in household of J. C. Thompson, Samuel Miller, Albemarle Co., VA - G. M. Scantling, male born Sep 1874, Samuel Miller, Albemarle Co., VA - Lizzie Scantling, female born Oct 1883, servant for Bernard Thacker, Charlottesville, Albemarle Co., VA It was interesting that the M. E. Scanting, female born 1833, of Samuel Miller, was shown as married and not widowed. I think many pages may be missing (at Ancestry.com) out of the 1900 census. When I went through them page by page I noticed many are in the database twice. Jim Sellars ________________________________ From: Georgia L. Since an Obituary for Charles would be more recent, it might be worth hunting for his obit as well to see if any and all children were listed. I saw the same page listing for "Fred Scantling" in Kentucky in 1900. He was listed as a "step-son" living in the household of Anthony & Sallie Neil in Boyle County, Kentucky, with a birthdate of "Oct 1879" with his birthplace as Kentucky. The Frederick William Scantling for which I'm hunting was born in Albemarle County, Virginia, on January 20, 1887. I kinda got excited a couple of weeks ago when I found that only to quickly be deflated when I readily recognized it wasn't the Fred Scantling for which I'm hunting.
