    3. SELLERS/SELLARS are the same. Our families spelled it like they wanted AFTER they learned to spell. I've seen brothers spell their names different! BEFORE, it was spelled as it sounded to whoever wrote it down. YOUR paper trails and your dna will Prove you to your line. CARL SELLERS dna 14803 THOMAS SELLERS dna 14438 will show their connections to DAVID SELLERS. IF YOU do NOT reply to ALL, add georgia = chickfletcher@comcast.net tom sellars = tsellars@hlsk.com carl sellars = <mailto:sellarsshop@verizon.net> sellarsshop@verizon.net they should probably go thro the Sellers group with a different subject line. you don't know who all can help, until you share with all. Continue on, can't respond to each message right now. you are doing good. hope this helps all. marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: Linda Peacock [mailto:lindaleepeacock@gmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, September 23, 2009 6:12 PM To: sellersj@swbell.net Cc: Marie Sellers Holinger; Margaret Freeman Subject: Re: Fw: Re: DNA match I think this may be correct but we don't have much as to connecting the David line. The earliest versions that I am aware of is Seller/Seler and Sellar/Sellars. We probably began as Sellars, since our latest common ancestor, Robert Sellars sr spelled ars. Indeed, all of Robert's family spelled ars. The ers began largely in the early 1800s. Many of the later Sellars generations were uneducated, so outsiders spelled as it sounds, ers. A good example is the town of Sellersburg, IN. A descendant of Robert sr of Burke founded the town of Sellarsborough, IN located just across the Ohio river from Louisville, KY , a town that still thrives. Stewart (Stu) Sellers who is on our DNA list is a descendant of Moses Sellars who founded now Sellersburg, IN...but I digress. Robert sr's father is probably Thomas Sellars, born about 1710 in VA USA; lived in VA last at Pattersons creek valley where he was in the French and Indian war; lived in Orange, NC 1753-1771; lived in the 96th district, SC which later became Edgefield, SC during the Revolutionary war, dying in Edgefield, SC about 1797. I believe Thomas had two families, Robert sr of Burke and his siblings mostly living in Chatham NC are the first family while Howell, Silas, William and Samuel make up the second family living in Edgefield, SC. I am trying to locate living descendant males of Thomas' second family to determine whether there are DNA matches. Your branch off Robert sr is John, first family while my branch is David who could be off either of Thomas' families. My David who was also born about 1758 could be the eldest of the second family, a grandson or a son of Thomas.
