    3. Hi Marie, Thanks for posting those items.  They are as valuable as they are frustrating since they make no mention of either of Marcus' parents.  It is proven, however, that Marcus mother was Keturah Ann (Ransdell) (Sellers) Leedy.  Keturah was listed in Marcus household in 1870 and 1880.  Keturah's relationship to Marcus for the 1880 Census was clearly listed as "Mother". Keturah died on Feb. 21, 1884, in Champaign County, IL, and was buried in the "Dunn/Locust Grove Cemetery" northeast of Urbana in that county.  Her gravestone was initially located and photographed in that cemetery in August of this year, however, it was so soiled that the inscription was nearly illegible.  The gravestone was thoroughly cleaned within the last few days, and a perfect photograph was taken on December 2, 2009.  Keturah's gravestone inscription reads: KITURAH A. Wife of DAVID LEEDY & Mother of M.D.L. SELLERS died June 19, 1884 AGED 81Ys 2Ms. 31Ds You are right in that Marcus had a sister, and I believe her name was Barbary Ann Sellers.  Barbary or Barbara was first married to Sanford Wesley Ransdell, Jr. on June 6, 1841, in Vigo County, Indiana.  They had a daughter, Phebe, in 1843.  Barbara and Sanford divorced about 1845 in Vigo Co., IN.  After the divorce, Phebe moved in with her presumed maternal grandmother, Kiturah Ann Leedy and is listed in Kiturah's household on the 1850 and 1860 Census.  Phebe is said to have married Edward Sparks on November 26, 1859, in Vigo Co., IN, however, I have not confirmed this. Barbara remarried on January 26, 1847, in Vigo Co., IN, to Seth Anderson, widower of Mahala McAdams.  Together Barbara and Seth had 2 children in Vigo Co., Candice and Howard, before removing to Wayne County, Iowa, by 1850. From there, Barbara and Seth removed to Golden Grove Township in Barton Co., Missouri, by 1854 and are found there still at the time of the 1860 Census. By 1863 they had moved yet again and relocated to Hempstead County, Arkansas, where it is presumed that Barbara either died or they divorced.  Seth Anderson remarried on August 10, 1868, to Lavina Jane Caroline King in Hempstead County, AR, and they promptly removed to Little Creek Township in Little River Co., AR, by 1870.  It is said that Seth made a trip to Texas in the mid-1870s and died in 1877 on the way back to Arkansas. So, Barbara married Sanford Wesley Ransdell, Jr. on June 6, 1841, and then married a 2nd time to Seth Anderson on January 26, 1847, both marriages in Vigo County, IN. Her brother, Marcus, married Rebecca James on May 10, 1849, in Harrison Co., IN, but is found living next door to his mother, Kiturah Ann Leedy on the 1850 Census for Fayette Township, Vigo County, IN.  I do not know if getting the actual copies of any of these marriages would provide or reveal information as to the identity of Barbary's and Marcus' father. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a marriage record for Kiturah's first marriage that was presumably to a Sellers.  If it could be found, I think that would reveal the name of the Sellers father of Barbary and Marcus.  The only marriage for Keturah that I've been able to find was to David Leedy on Dec. 31, 1829, in Harrison County, Indiana. I'd love to explore this more and try to find the Sellers that was the father to Marcus and Barbary.  I've kinda run into the veritable brick wall now on this one.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. I checked the old newspapers today and added to our Champaign Co., IL page. (Picture also) I may go thro a few more with dates sent to us and see if I can find his will or something. A sister Barbara, from memory. May prove to benefit. http://www.sellers-sellars-sollars-zellars.net/ilchamp.htm marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: sellers-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:sellers-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Michael Sellers Sent: Wednesday, December 02, 2009 11:49 AM To: SELLERS@rootsweb.com Subject: [SELLERS] Marcus De Lafayette Sellers In October 2006 there was discussion of Marcus De Lafayette Sellers (M.D.L. Sellers) and wife Rebecca James.  In the string at http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/SELLERS/2006-10/1160797305 it was stated that we needed the Obituary and/or Will of Marcus in order to further try and determine his lineage.  In following the discussion thread, I do not see that the Obit and/or Will was pulled and posted.  Did I miss it or are we still missing these items for Marcus? I have an online copy of his Death Certificate in Texas, and it was understandably blank concerning the names of his parents.  Marcus had moved from Champaign Co., IL, to San Antonio, Bexar Co., Texas, at about age 94 in 1921.  He died in San Antonio on March 2, 1925, at the age of "97 years, 22 days".  His body was sent back to Urbana, Champaign Co., IL, for burial. Marcus' mother was Keturah Ann Ransdall.  She was first married to Marcus father, a Sellers, prior to marrying David Leedy on Dec. 21, 1829, in Harrison Co., IN, when Marcus was nearly 2 years old.  I am trying to determine the name of Marcus' father.  I think it is an excellent possibility that Marcus' father was a son of James Sellers and Barbara White.  James Sellers and Barbara White were married November 8, 1796, in Rockingham Co., VA, before migrating to Harrison Co., IN, by 1820.  There are several Sellers marriages in Harrison County, IN, in the 1820s that involved James' and Barbara's children.  Since Marcus was born in Harrison Co., IN, in 1828, I think it heightens the possibility that James and Barbara (White) Sellers were his grandparents.  The obituary for one of their daughters, Delilah (Sellers) Nance, in 1892 confirmed that James and Barbara were the parents of 8 children; 4 boys and 4 girls.  I have been able to positively identify 6 but am missing one daughter and one son. If we've pulled Marcus' obituary and/or his will, could you please direct me to where we have it posted in the Sellers records and/or discussion?  If we haven't, what can we do to get a copy of these items for Marcus?  I'm in hopes that the Obituary will lend some clues as to the name of Marcus' father. Thanks!
