Yesterday, I sent you a Very Important male SELLERS of McMinn Co., TN , probably connected to Burke Co., NC., who is willing to do a dna test. He will pay 23? WE pay the balance of about 100 or less. We had One donation of 25.00. I do have Pay Pal = my email. WE must order these tests when these people are available and willing. Are you willing to send $10.00? I can't believe we didn't get any more response to this dna donation! DO You realize How hard it is to find these people??? HOW are we going to support these dna tests we NEED. WE don't have this line connected. DO you see how important this connection is? DO we have one Old family here in NC or do we have another immigrant? Does anyone understand me? I know there are many SELLERS out there not interested in dna YET, just delete OR read up and understand how important it is to connecting/proving the older lines where we don't have documents, etc = burned counties, etc. We have and will help you on your families, = just share a few names, dates, places. YES, many surname groups have a depost fund for dna tests, some to a particular family group. We haven't done that. I would think just sending thro the list on a possible Sellers would motivate us to support that line? IDEAS welcomed. But, we Must have a way to support/order these tests when we have Willing Sellers to test! marie, iowa ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SELLERS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
Marie and all, In a way, how to donate, goes to the issue we were also considering, of how to organize the DNA results obtained, as to haplogroups and family groups. I am absolutely no web genius and the FTDNA set up is very primitive. I am co-administrator of the Bonham family project at FTDNA and we have just used the basic setup that FTDNA provides. When one logs on to our public site, the first thing one sees is the status as to the general fund and there is a link as to how to donate by credit card. On left hand side of the window are links as to project goals, results, news, Y-DNA results, mt-DNA results and so on. As said, the way the site works is very primitive and I have for example, no idea as to how to change the order of members within a group, but on the other hand it is easy, using their general public site program, to organize haplogroups (and family groups) - it´s fairly automatic. If I contacted the FTDNA people they might be able to help me further elaborate. Other groups, such as the Sellers and Ross groups (who also have more members and more family groups and different goals) have a different set-up as to their sites and I am not sure how one does that or how one could do some links as to further data than we, for example, provide at the Bonham site. As to our Bonham site, we have chosen to have a separate and non-public site only for those who have tested and for their chosen family members, as to exchanging more info as to family trees, etc.. This option, may or may not be a good idea for the Sellers Y-DNA site to consider. We did it in order to help recruit Y-DNA donors who might be reluctant as to donating their Y-DNA because of issues as to any non-paternal events that might turn up or because some people just want to make sure their DNA results are not connected to them personally in any way, for what ever reason. People have different levels of sensitivity as to that. Okay, so I am wondering if there is some way that the FTDNA standardized option could be used as to donating money for Y-DNA and Mt-DNA tests, and as to organizing and showing the "public", the results, "automatically", ordered by haplogroup and matches, so it´s easy for the administrator(s)to maintain, though primitive. And then, for there to be further public or private options as to links (linked to FTDNA or whatever), to provide more in depth info as to the family trees and family groups. Does this make any sense to you Marie, and to all of you Sellerses? And sorry for this long missive, but I want you to know, Marie, that the Sellers site is the best family site I have ever seen and that´s thanks to your guardianship. And thank all of you Sellers´s who all help one another figure out their family lines, even if they are not YOUR lines.
