I have also been so darn frustrated with this issue too and then I discovered that on the home page on the top click on search and then where you scroll down, to where you put in the name of the person you are researching, there is a box that says exact matches only and when I clicked that it sure takes care of not getting a Clark when searching a Cellers. Some times I just use a first name or just a last name. I hope this helps. People "disappearing" in censuses bother me too. I don´t find the Soundex options at Ancestry very helpful and I hate, that when I have said that such and such a person was b. in a certain time period and, or place that Ancestry gives all kinds of unrelated data anyway. Yikes! So one has to cull through the pages of the various censuses as you have been doing. Well, at least it´s there to cull through and I do, do the corrections, when I am certain, to help the next person out. Sent you another message via the Sellers e-mail list, as my first reply didn´t work. To Brandy and Travis: we may all be cousins. Just have to keep working the data we can find to prove or disprove that, but it certainly seems possible. Linda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Now I think the death date written on his death certificate..year 1957 must be 1951. Sometimes people write their ones with a florish at the top and it looks like a 7, instead of a one. It must have been 7 April 1951 that he died. Would mathmatically make sense considering his birth date was 20 Aug 1886, and he was listed as 70, (70 1/2) at the time of his death. Since the death certificate states he died at his Residence, perhaps he was out on bond waiting for his trail date at the time he died. Also might explain why the cause of death is just listed as Natural Causes. Since he had murdered his brother in law it saved the county money not to look into his death by wasting money on an autopsy...not to mention no longer having to pay for keeping him incarcerated if he had lived longer. Just in case you don't have this info: Douglas, Jim, Ashford, NC age 50 C married Sellers, Myrtle, Ashford, NC age 20 C on 20 September 1936 in Ashford, NC. Married by W. M. Adams, MG. Witnesses: Odie Panell, Davis King. Indexed Register of Marriages - McDowell Co., NC p. 44 It appears that Myrtle was lying about her age. Her Death Certificate gave her birth date as 10 June 1921, although she is listed as 1 year old on the 1920 Mitchell Co., NC census, so maybe born 1919 instead of 1921, but either way she was underage when she married her 50 year old husband. If she was actually born in 1919, she was 17. One has to wonder about a 50 year old man who courts and marries a teenage girl. Also. p. 148 Scott, Sewell, Ashford, NC, age 30 C, married Sellers, Maude, Ashford, NC, age 18 C; 13 July 1929. Married in Marion, NC by Dallas W. Rutherford, MG. Witnesses J. F. Lentz, T. W. Gowan. I also found a Charles Clifton Sellers and wife Nell Howell registration of the birth of three children in Rutherford Co., NC: Linda Kaye 1954 Vanessa 1959 Franchot 1963 Is this the same Charles Clifton Seller you mention as the son of Judge and Destie Cutler Sellers? Don, above would love to discuss this family with you, but, we haven't heard from him for years? I would suggest sending the child of John and Sarah you connect and their kids. When and where born, etc. Someone may know your family. If I remember correctly, we did NOT prove John 1850, mother Nancy to a Sellers. Glad to help. Send what you can. Also, Edith S. Douglas was found dead near her residence or at a friends home/driveway. I don't think that anyone ever knew the exact cause of death.
