    3. CAROLE, thanks, we appreciated the death results you sent us. We do NOT have enough dna tests taken to prove either of these families. I believe the John/George Sellers in 1814? Lincoln Co., NC area, connect back to the child of Sellers in PA, per document said they were in Carolinas and this is area we found these names. Roger Sellers (proven to Bucks Co., Pa, also) dna test does NOT match anyone and his haplo. We Need more dna tests, even if we have to buy them. I just can't seem to find anything else on this family, so I was wondering (and this may be a silly question), but where do these records we search come from? I guess what I'm trying to say is, does each county register of deeds automatically submit copies of all the records they have or is there a chance that there is more info to be found at their offices. If so, I'm just thinking that Travis and I are gonna take a trip through the mountains to research these counties to see what may be. 3. Lynda, Eldon and I are talking about James Sellers b. 1759 in NC. Eldon, I have not found any information at all on a wife for him or a father. Some researchers have his father as Abraham but no my knowledge that has not been proved. Lynda, as to going back to the original search method, I was on the phone and sending emails back and forth for two days and they had me doing all kinds of things and I never could get back to the original search page, clicking the exact match only was as close as I could get. -------Original Message------- From: sellers-request@rootsweb.com Date: 4/9/2009 12:46:11 PM To: sellers@rootsweb.com Subject: SELLERS Digest, Vol 4, Issue 76 Today's Topics: 1. I think it was back in January. Sorry I didn't reply back at the time. I remember when I was helping you with James Sellers too. I know I think he belongs to the Robert Sellers Sr line, but once the two different Sellers groups, the German ones out of Lincoln and Rutherford Co., NC and the Sellers lines out of Burke, via Mecklenburg, via Where?, both ended up in Haywood/Macon and those other far western NC counties before taking off to new frontiers, I still have a hard time definitively identifying who's who. But I do think your James is a grandson of Robert Sellers, Sr, but still not sure of the exact connection. One day, I tell myself, if I keep working on researching... And I do agree with you on Ancestry.com's search engine capabilities. Totally frustrating. It use to be much better. Last year when I renewed I did complain to the sales rep who called. He told me that happens with all the new information they keep adding. Perhaps they need to spend a little money and upgrade the search engine so it doesn't keep giving you such a broad array of useless information. Such as do a search for Cellars and you get Clark!! Not to mention the bizarre misspelling on the indexing that when you look at the actual census couldn't possibly have been read that way. Such as, how could a bunch of men on one census with the given name Andrew have really been written as Amanadrew, etc? I went through the whole 1870 Mitchell Co NC census last night (whoa, lengthy!) and can say the Sellers group wasn't there in 1870. Maybe I'll have the energy to tackle Yancey. I know Winny is back in McDowell living with Adin, and her daughter, Elvira Sellers English, but we're looking for Joseph "Joe" and his wife M. Elvira and their family in 1870. I think the son Josiah "Joe" is in McDowell living with Eleson and Margaret Wiseman, and there is a Lucy and Mary, both age 45, but where are the rest of them? 3. The James Sellers you mention is my 4th great grandfather. What do you know of his parents or his wife? Eldon J. Some times I just use a first name or just a last name. I hope this helps. I am just hoping this search doesn't expand into those east Tennessee counties too. That might take some time...Yikes! This group of Sellers appear to be the only one's that remained in the Burke/McDowell, etc area, which helps with sorting this all out. If I get lucky and find Joseph "Joe' and M. Elvira ? Sellers with family in 1870, then I'll try to do a post with the family in a chart. I know that both Pinckney "Pink" H.Sellers and his brother Josiah "Joe" Sellers are on the 1880 Mitchell Co., NC census. Their Mother, Elvira, is in McDowell with Louisa and her son Charles. (Joseph Sellers must have died prior to this) Daughter Sarah Ann is in McDowelll married to Joseph Tarpley McKinney. I don't know where Elizabeth, William or Mary are. And,, of course where is Judge? Winnie's daughter Elizabeth appears to be living with Abagail McGee. It's a challenge trying to sort all of this out! I know that when Avery was formed in 1911 it was created from a large portion of Mitchell (1861) and a smaller portion of Watauga (1849)So we'll have to explore that as a possibility where some of the Sellers ended up. The net widens. Charmaine Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I wonder if the Soundex is even turned on at Ancestry. The other day I triesd changing to an international" version, for fun and got the same results. Well, making progress at any rate, as to my Sellers line in that the Thompson bible does refer to Jane Thompson marrying James Sellers. And the family does appear to have moved to TN as stated in the list of Robert Sellers, Sr.´s descendants provided by Georgia (and origianlly listed in the mimeographed Sellers letters). Plus, there were Roberts in later generations and no Conrads. Furthermore, though the Black´s were in Lincoln County, as were my Bonhams, I haven´t found any Sellers´s from my line that were there. They all seem to have been from the Rutherford, Macon, etc. area. Jane´s mother´s father (Thomas Black) appears to have been of Scottish descent via Y-DNA tests but my mt-DNA is quite universal, European (no Cherokee Indians so far, which was a family story (and still is) from some of the branches who tried to claim Federal compensation for "lands lost , "Indian money" and claims denied, rightfully it looks like). There is the association to the Killian grou! p, but I have British Bonhams who also associated with Germans, due to their religious beliefs and Nathan Thompson is reported to have been a minister. Oh, well, another mess to sort out. Maybe if I could ever find a Sellers of James´s line to take the Y-DNA test, it would clear up the ma Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have been trying to reach as many Sellers as possible to let them know about the Reunion. Some of our DNA matches will be able to attend. The reunion will be held at the Holiday Inn in Troy, Pike County, Alabama. Saturday evening, May 23, there will be a dinner, and the cost of attending the dinner will be $ 16.50 per person. I need to know how many people would want to attend and their preference of chicken or beef as a meat dish. I want to invite you, and any and all other Sellers Family members who might be interested in attending. Please help me spread the word about the reunion. Thanks so much!
