Hi, I am an uncle of Richard Meador who has been in contact with you about my grandfather's burial location. You told him there was a need of dna from this side of the family. I might fit the need but I have no earthly idea of what is involved. My father was Homer Clarence Sellers, one of about six brothers and several sisters. Richard is the only son of my sister, Betty. If I can be of help, please advise. Orval & Thelma Sellers 809 Roy Lane Keller, TX 76248 817-431-2021 hm 817-475-9400 mb

Oops, sorry I forgot to include her stats: DOB was 8 Feb 1858 (Nacogdoches County, Texas) and DOB was 3 Oct 1940 in Artesia, Eddy County, New Mexico. Thanks again! Judy Judith L. Elliott jelliott@bakermanock.com
Hi there, I'm new to the group. I'm actually assisting my former son-in-law, Joshua Dean Helm, in trying to obtain information regarding Nancy Jane Sellers and locating family members. Nancy Jane Sellers was his Great Great Grandmother. His beloved Grandmother, June Marie Brown Helm (Nancy's Granddaughter), passed away several years ago. Josh's connection to Nancy is as follows: John Riley Brown & Nancy Jane Sellers, John Riley Brown & Anna Mae Garrett, June Marie Brown & Thomas Roland Helm and Marc Davis Helm & Catherine Elaine Schrupp. Marc and Cathy are Josh's parents. I was very much interested when I read the query from Notha Stevens (nstevens@carlsbadnm.com) regarding Madison (Matterson) Sellers (Nancy's Father), as he stated that Nancy Jane Sellers was in his family tree. I tried e-mailing Notha, however my e-mail was returned as undeliverable. I would really appreciate any help in contacting Notha Stevens and, of course, any information regarding Nancy Jane Sellers. Josh's Grandmother, June, told him that her Grandmother, Nancy, left the reservation to marry John Riley Brown without registering, so her name does not appear on the Dawes Roll. Thank you all in advance for your help. Take care, Judy Judith L. Elliott jelliott@bakermanock.com

LEANNE, thanks. WE will use them as sources and perhaps others that have researched in these counties can help with originals. It gives us sources which we need. DATES with Names helps, as I don't have all And several by these names. Looks like we/I need more HOLT info. Thank You, marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: Leanne Dooley [mailto:ldooley@newwavecomm.net] Sent: Sunday, November 01, 2009 9:01 PM To: mari@netins.net Subject: Beresheba (Brinkley) Sellars Mari?, I have only abstractions from a Brinkley co-researcher regarding the Orange Co Court of Common Pleas & Quarter Sessions Records but do have several dates these came from. The depositions are of George Holt, Martin Loy (married Polly Sellars) and Crosley Brinkley (son of Beresheba Brinkley before she m. Thomas Sellars. We can't determine Crosley's father & assume she was an unwed mother in1775 (Maybe a soldier that didn't make it back from war????). The date on these are 18 Feb 1815. The there is also the division of land order carried out by George Holt, Wm Holt, Mason Tarply, John Boone, James Gant. This date is 15 Nov.1817. Evidently Bersheba got half the land. I used to have actual copies of the records but sent them to my cousin and they haven't been returned yet. The suit was listed as Thomas Sellars vs. Peter Brinkley Jr. The bible record with the marriage date of Thomas & Beresheba was given to me as a torn bit copied from an old Brinkley bible from someone who won't share much of the info in the bible with anyone, yet (he says). For some reason he liked me & helped me with our brick wall on Crosley Brinkley's parents. Martin Loy & Polly Sellars Loy went to Adair Co., KY along with my ancestor, Charles Brinkley (Crosley's eldest son). About 1822. Martin Loy stayed, Charles moved on to Lewis Co., MO, (1852) then on to Texas. Martin & Polly had about 8 kids (7 b. Orange Co NC last one b. KY). I believe and a Simeon Waggoner family from the same area in NC went along also. If you want to see the court abstracts, I can send them in another email...but he wasn't too good at abstracting. You'd get the jest of things anyway. There were several other dates of entry of material regarding the lawsuit, but it was mostly court business, not much genealogical info we didn't already have. If I can help in any other way, please let me know. If you have any info on my Brinkleys, or questions please yell at me. Cheers, Leanne
from : Carole Walker [mott@navacore.net] Subject: Beware Census Taking Scams Please forward this. WARNING: 2010 Census Cautions from the Better Business Bureau Be Cautious About Giving Info to Census Workers by Susan Johnson With the U.S. Census process beginning, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) advises people to be cooperative, but cautious, so as not to become a victim of fraud or identity theft. The first phase of the 2010 U.S. Census is under way as workers have begun verifying the addresses of households across the country. Eventually, more than 140,000 U..S. Census workers will count every person in the United States and will gather information about every person living at each address including name, age, gender, race, and other relevant data. The big question is - how do you tell the difference between a U.S. Census worker and a con artist? BBB offers the following advice: If a U.S. Census worker knocks on your door, they will have a badge, a hand held device, a Census Bureau canvas bag, and a confidentiality notice. Ask to see their identification and their badge before answering their questions. However, you should never invite anyone you don't know into your home. Census workers are currently only knocking on doors to verify address information. Do not give your Social Security number, credit card or banking information to anyone, even if they claim they need it for the U.S. Census. REMEMBER, NO MATTER WHAT THEY ASK, YOU REALLY ONLY NEED TO TELL THEM HOW MANY PEOPLE LIVE AT YOUR ADDRESS. While the Census Bureau might ask for basic financial information, such as a salary range, YOU DON'T HAVE TO ANSWER ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT YOUR FINANCIAL SITUATION. The Census Bureau will not ask for Social Security, bank account, or credit card numbers, nor will employees solicit donations. Any one asking for that information is NOT with the Census Bureau. AND REMEMBER -- THE CENSUS BUREAU HAS DECIDED NOT TO WORK WITH ACORN ON GATHERING THIS INFORMATION.. No Acorn worker should approach you saying he/she is with the Census Bureau. Eventually, Census workers may contact you by telephone, mail, or in person at home. However, the Census Bureau will not contact you by Email, so be on the lookout for Email scams impersonating the Census. Never click on a link or open any attachments in an Email that are supposedly from the U.S. Census Bureau. For more advice on avoiding identity theft and fraud, visit www.bbb.org PLEASE SHARE THIS INFO WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS. Excellent work, Leanne! Thank you so much for this input. It helps a lot as to sorting out these Thomas Sellerses of Orange/Chatham/Alamance Co. NC. Linda -----Oprindelig meddelelse----- Fra: sellers-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:sellers-bounces@rootsweb.com] På vegne af Leanne Dooley Sendt: 31. oktober 2009 01:59 Til: SELLERS-L@rootsweb.com Emne: [SELLERS] Thomas Sellars Orange Co, NC I had written several years ago to this list inquiring about Thomas Sellars (Sr) of Orange Co., NC, who was the father of Thomas (Jr. who m. the Rainey and his brother Willis among others,) trying to tie in our Brinkley line. I now have further research from Orange Co. Court Records c 1816 of a Lawsuit involving Baresheba Brinkley vs. her brother, Peter Brinkley (Jr.) also of Orange Co, over the land division of their deceased father, Peter Brinkley Sr..... Beresheba is named Mrs.Thomas Sellars!. All the testators in the suit are from our family & their neighbors. . I also have access to a copy from an old bible stating that Beresheba Brinkley m. Thomas Sellars in 1778. That should make Beresheba Brinkley Sellars the mother of all of Thomas Sellars Sr.'s children b. 1778/9 or later. Thomas is no longer listed as a head of household in the 1830 fed. Census of Orange Co, but Beresheba Sellars is. She is evidently deceased by1840. I've read the history of the Orange Co/Alam! ance Co Sellars family & they are unsure of the wife of Thomas Sr. & think it may be a Holt lady, but I believe that this info is more definate. Just wanted to let you Sellars folk know in case you want to check it further. My new e-mail address is attached so if you could change "Leanne's Page" address to the new one & include this info, I'd be very happy. Cheers!
