    3. Georgia, O.K. that settles that, and its him, that is listed! I do believe, that the Sellers, and Ward's and Pearson's, are all connected, even way back then! I found a Charles Pearson, listed in Chatham Co. N.C., and I have a feeling it may be my Eunice Sellers husband, father to Clarissa. I've found several Ward's listed, and I saw where the Robert Sellers, sold a slave to a Ward man. I'm desperately trying to find the parents of my William Ward, husband to my Clarissa, and I just bet its some of these Ward's in Chatham Co. that were up there with the Sellers! 3. LINDA , thanks. LINDA'S replies are BELOW my reply. sorry. I believe this ABRAHAM and SAMUEL SELLERS, BROTHERS in 1755 could be same as the SAMUEL SELLERS with Son ABRAHAM in 1794 SAMPSON CO, NC = 10-23-1755= Abram SELLERS deeds to Samuel SELLERS, his brother, 20 pounds for 100 acres upon the west side of the six Runs between Hays and Clerks Plantation beginning..near his house. Deed mentions JAMES' line. Land granted to Abram SELLERS by Arthur Dobbs by patent dated 3-13-1756 (yes, date of deed precedes patent date) Wit=Henry Hollingsworth, John Baker and Absolem Merrill (could be= Merritt? , as Absolem Merritt lived on six runs, branch of Black River, north side of Stewarts Creek, msh) =============== IF anyone can SEE a close or direct connection on the land that SAMUEL SELLERS, JR sold in 1790 Ga - advise. msh = EXTRACTIONS from SAMPSON CO, NC DEEDS BY MAX R. PETERSON, JR = 11-9-1790= Samuel SELLERS, JR of Georgia deeds to Nathaniel MERRITT, = for 170 pounds for two tracts of land.=(EXACT wording)= First tract appears to have consisted of 284 acres granted by pattent unto Samuel SELLERS...On the East side of Six Runs on BOTH sides of prins branch including the improvements beginning...on the Run of the Brandh. Deed mentions Robert MERRITT, his old corner by the head of Spring Brand, his old Patent, the North Egg prins or Hobbys Branch and the mouth of Hobby's Branch(in Prins Branch) Land granted to Thomas HOBBY and sold by deed to Samuel SELLERS. (The last sentence could refer to second tract although a literal reading places it as shown. The 100 acres of second tract could be a part of that grant.) ( written like this in excerpts of deed, msh) second tract consisted of 100 acres "on the Spring branch on east side of six runs begiining..by Spring branch. deed mentions a marsh. Wit= John REGISTER and John MATHIS =========== the JAMES family and SAMUEL SELLERS extraction we/I have = 10-1757 = Richard JAMES (a carpenter) deeds to Samuel SELLERS =10 pounds for 300 acres in Co of New Hanover on a Branch of Black River. Land granted to said Richard JAMES by Gabriel JOHNSTON by patent dated 3-27-1751. Wit = Joseph BEVAN = 4-10-1759 = Samuel SELLORS to David JONES (a carpenter)= 10 pounds for 100 acres the west Side of a Branch called Six Runs...in Co of New Hanover on a Branch of Black River. Land was part of a tract granted to Richard JAMES by Gabriel JOHNSTON by patent 3-27-1751 and conveyed by Richard JAMES TO Samuel SELLORS. Wit = Robert WARREN and Joseph BLACKMAN = WE have may another, I didn't see now. I was Looking for the one that mentioned the acres of JAMES and SELLERS from GA records. Did I miss it? msh AGES when you could patent, deed land in NC should be checked. They are listed on NC pages. 1757 =AGE 18 = BORN before 1739 1757 = AGE 21 = BORN BEFORE 1736 AGES are very important on determining father, son, cousin, uncle, etc. THANKS for sharing . marie, iowa ======== -----Original Message----- From: Linda Davis [mailto:ldavis8@msn.com] Sent: Tuesday, September 23, 2003 11:25 PM To: Marie Sellers-Hollinger Subject: Re: Sellers in Appling County, Georgia ----- Original Message ----- From: Marie Sellers-Hollinger To: Linda Davis ; SELLERS-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, September 23, 2003 2229 Subject: Re: Sellers in Appling County, Georgia LINDA, thanks. WE know SAMUEL SELLERS RS was in 1790 EFFINGHAM CO, GA. ANY kids or grandkids BORN or MARRIED here? John's sister Penelope married Mr. Staten there. Mr. John Staten witnessed Samuel Sellers 1794 will. The will names children John, Samuel, and Penelope. This is the 3 generation of Samuels which can be confusing plus a father-in-law named Sam Sellers too. WHERE is OUR NEXT time frame? on his kids OR any SELLERS kids to EFF CO, GA? AND to next time frame? Samuel RS's oldest son John goes to Bullock County and marries Jane Carter 28 July 1796. The next time I find John is in Appling County 1820. Samuel the 3rd came shortly after that. They were in Tatterall County for the birth of the oldest of Samuel's children. ON A CHART I see a dau of SAMUEL SELLERS 1775 = Cinderella SELLERS born 1808 EFF CO, GA Cinderella is my John's niece by brother Samuel #3. I guess "they" looked at the census for her age. HOW did they PROVE THIS.? SOME of our Records jump several years. HELP with ANY PROVEN info you/we have. I BELIEVE ZILPHA SELLERS wife of SAMUEL SELLERS died 1794 EFF CO, GA father was SAMUEL SELLERS per will of 1784 with dau ZILPHA SELLERS. Yes, the father in law was named Samuel Sellers too. His wife was Hannah according to his will dated 13 October 1784. Children listed are my Zilpha Sellers, Abraham Sellers/son, Unity Cook/daughter, Rhoda Cook/daughter, Sarah Register/daughter, Elizabeth Pigeon/daughter, Lacey Register/daughter, I BELIEVE possible errors in earlier GA history of SAMUEL SELLERS died 1794 with father SAMUEL SELLERS. = Don't think PROVEN. AND this error may be continued on in some records? Huxford's Wiregrass Books states that Samuel RS's father is Samuel Sellers and this is documented by a land transaction in NC dated 1751 to a Mr. James. ==== MARRIAGE RECORDS OF SELLARS Samuel married Sellars, Zilpha 5-11-1767 42366 Duplin Bondsman= Jesse Sellers and ---- Merritt/Merrill Huxford's Wiregrass Books states that Samuel RS married his cousin. I reasoned that they must have been second cousins since both of their fathers were named Samuel. Brothers would not have the same first name. I don't know the siblings of Samuel RS...Jesse is not mentioned in Zilpha's father's will. I don't know of a Merritt connection. === THIS RECORD does NOT show COUSINS or ANY RELATIONSHIP. DO YOU have more info??? ==== AND WE/I don't know WHO this JESSE SELLERS is OR where he went and who the MERRITT/MERRILL person is = who are close to our SELLERS here in DUPLIN/NEW HANOVER/SAMPSON CO, NC. YES, i have Heard the Cousins and very possible. ==== YES, I think I have seen DAR records = my goodness knows How they were proved or IF THEY WERE proven = they were Accepted by DAR. The early DAR records were proven based on the evidence in the Huxford's Wiregrass Books. Documentation is now required. ==== I have seen SAMUEL SELLERS from NC listed in REV WAR Records = same as GA? NO pension or Bounty Land? died before that probably. I have copy of his service record from NC. I have seen SOLEMON SELLERS listed in GA ? REV WAR Records, I believe. DON'T KNOW who he is? Neither do I. OR if we have #'s on these files? ======= SAMUEL SELLERS land he sold in 1790 EFF, GA lays close to ALL these SELLERS. can't quite get TWO exact descriptions of land. Probably some divided off earlier? Very Closely connected to JACOB SELLERS. SAMUEL SELLERS had a brother ABRHAM SELLERS here in 1757 NC, which his kids would be cousins of each other. Abraham Sellers was Zilpha's brother according to the will. Samuel Sellers RS's children were first cousins to Abraham's children thru their mother Zilpha. PLEASE understand my questions. I KNOW the GA info is hard to come by, but, perhaps, WE don't have ALL available? Like I said I do plan to go to the archives in Atlanta. I am having the same problem with my Thompson line in Bryan County, Georgia...no records to review. I see NO 1812 WAR OR 1835 CREEK WAR files posted.Other in my lines served in these wars, but I have never heard of a Sellers doing this...I will check at the archives. HELP where you can. marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: Linda Davis [mailto:ldavis8@msn.com] Sent: Tuesday, September 23, 2003 6:21 AM To: Marie Sellers-Hollinger; SELLERS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: {not a subscriber} Re: Sellers in Appling County, Georgia Marie, I have Ziphilia's father's will from NC showing that she married a Sellers. DAR doesn't need this document according to my registrar. It does prove that the second cousins married. They were not first cousins as some say as both of their fathers were named Samuel. I have Samuel Sellers' patriot service record from NC. Got it at the National Archives last October. I have Samuel Sellers' will from Effingham County, GA listing his children: Samuel, Penelope (Staten), and my John. If there were other children, they did not live to adulthood to be named in the will. I don't need information on them to prove my line, but have reviewed other researchers' work on Sam and Penny. I have John Sellers and Jane Carter's marriage record from Bullock County. I have the 1820-40 census of Appling County...these do not name anyone except "John Sellers".....who gets younger instead of older in these census. In Appling County, Ga courthouse, the earliest will is 1854 or so, the earliest marriage record is 1869 and that is one record for that year, and rare land records are available prior to 1854. I have reviewed them. This was the first courthouse that I saw WhiteOut used to mark over lost wills in the old index book...it saves them time. The clerk does not look for wills and documents that they know are lost. I would have loved to seen the names and dates on that old index. Appling County was huge at one time...it includes Ware, Charlton, Piece and other counties...all these early records are lost in two fires. I have not gone to the Georgia Archives in Atlanta yet. That is on my list of things to do. The land that the Sellers owned western border was on Creek lands. There were no churches with Baptizing records or school in this frontier. There was a church named Ten Mile Church which was about 15 miles east from their land...I doubt they attended regular services/the earliest records are not early enough to prove what I need. In 1850 Jane Carter Sellers was living with her daughter Mrs. Dyal. I was hoping for a family Bible but there is not one. The census states my John Jr. did not read and write nor did his children...folks who do not read and write do not write in Bibles. After 1850, I have all the proof to me. There has been only one lady who joined DAR on the son John and it was done in the 1970's with the reference to the Huxford Wiregrass Books. DAR wants documentation now and Huxford does not list the documents..."John who married Kizzie was a nephew to Samuel" hence John Sr.'s son. There are DAR members well established thru Samuel Sellers, John's brother. This line is still living in Appling County on the same land for 8 generations. The Sellers Cemetery is mainly this line not mine. I have been in touch with this wonderful family but they only have documentation on their direct line. I am a member of DAR thru my father's line, but looking for a supplemental on my mother's side. He first appears in the 1820 census, and then again in the 1830 census. He had married Jane Carter in Bullock County, Georgia in 1797. In 1840 John Sellers is a younger man with wife, children and an elderly man in his household. In 1850 John Sellers is enumerated with Kizzie from NC and a house full of children. An elderly Jane Sellers is enumerated in a Dyal's household in 1850. John's household is the same for the 1860 census. By 1870, John and Kizzie are in Charlton County, Georgia. By 1880, Kizzie is a widow with adult children living in her household in Charlton County. I am looking for documentation that John of the 1820 census is the father of the John of the 1840 and forward census. I am attempting to do a DAR application on Samuel Sellers, RS of NC. His will was probated in Effingham County, Georgia listing children as this John, Samuel, and Penelope (Staten). After two trips to Appling County courthouse which burnt in 1857 and again more recently, I can't document this relationship. I would appreciate any input on this matter. Thanks.

Thanks.

    1. [SELLERS] IRA J. SELLERS/1943 JEFFERSON CO, KY?
    2. Marie Sellers-Hollinger
    3. IRA J. SELLERS FROMJoytohal@cs.com BY Mary Lou Hudson [hudgo@medt.com] The McCreary County Record, Feb. 11, 1943 Plane Near Whitley City Bowman Field Officer Says California Man Opened Outer Door By Mistake PANEL FOUND NEARBY; DOOR ON DAY RIDGE Mrs. Eliza Clark Locates Body Monday; Says She Watched It Fall The body of a soldier identified as Herman A. Tinder of Hollywood, Calif., who fell from an Army transport plane Sunday afternoon at 4:20 o'clock, was found at eight a.m. Monday a mile northeast of Whitley City. Coroner Sidney Taylor said the body was moved to the Stearns Undertaking Establishment late last night. It was not moved sooner on orders from the Army, he said. An officer from Bowman Field, Louisville, arrived this morning to conduct an investigation. The misunderstanding of an order given by the pilot of the plane was blamed by Major Ira J. Sellers, commander of the 27th Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron, Bowman Field, for the accident. The pilot ordered Tinder to open the door leading from the cockpit, but Tinder misunderstood and opened the outer door of the plane, Major Sellers, who made a preliminary investigation, was quoted at Louisville by Major Gerald J. Fusco, Bowman Field public relations officer, as saying. The door, a double panel outlet, of aluminum, whipped open with Tinder holding on, Major Fusco said. The crew chief rushed to Tinder's aid, but he was thrown from the door and whipped against the plane body by the wind. The door battered against the body for perhaps five minutes, then tore loose and fell, Major Fusco said. He explained the door is made of an inner and outer panel, the door proper probably being the one found by Henry Gibson of the Day Ridge section of the county. The plane was bound from Bowman Field to Pope Field, near Fort Bragg, N.C., Major Fusco said. The body, clad in coveralls and with no parachute, was found lying in a pine thicket 100 yards from a narrow country road. Coroner Taylor said he identified the body from a metal identification tag around the soldier's neck. Also on the tag was the name, Mrs. Bessie Tinder, Hollywood, Calif., presumably either the mother or the wife of the victim. Coroner Taylor estimated his age at around thirty years. An aluminum panel was found twenty feet from the point where the body was located. The panel was constructed in such a manner that it could be detached. The panel, measuring approximately two by five feet, was painted the grayish black color used on the outside of Army planes. The inside was a light green. On the inside was printed the warning, "Do not open at speeds in excess of 150 miles per hour," and the label "Cargo panel." Mrs. Eliza Clark, who has two sons in the Army and who lives about a quarter of a mile from the point where the body was found, said she was in her yard Sunday afternoon and was watching the plane as it passed over at a high altitude in a northerly direction. She said she saw some object fall from it and heard it hit the ground with a metallic sound. She did not believe it to be a body at the time, but thought it merely a part of the plane. She made a search of the vicinity Sunday afternoon, but found nothing. Monday morning she resumed her search, first locating the metal panel and then the body. She expressed the opinion the soldier was grasping the panel and did not release it until he struck the tree tops. Coroner Taylor said the body was not badly mangled and the force of the fall was evidently broken when the body struck the tree tops. Only a few twigs were sheared from the top of a nearby tree. Coroner Taylor said some dents in the ground about twelve feet from the body were evidently made by the feet when the body struck. The dents were about three inches deep and five feet apart.. A knife, cigarette lighter and 41 cents in change were the only other objects found near the body. Mr. Gibson, who lives ten miles northwest of Whitley City near Natural Arch and who found the plane door, said that Sunday afternoon about 4:30 o'clock he saw a plane go over in a northerly direction and saw two objects falling from it. He said his daughter, Louisa Gibson, called his attention to the falling objects. One fell a half mile from his home and the other a greater distance away in another direction, he said. Monday morning he located the nearest one which was the door, measuring three and a half by five feet. The door closely resembled the panel found at Whitley City, but had two latches on it, neither of which was damaged. It had been held in place on the plane by two hinges, both of which had been ripped from the door. It was painted identical with the panel. A large number of persons visited the scene near Whitley City Monday. ==== KYMCCREA Mailing
