    3. Georgia, Yes, he was. James Montgomery Sellers was born November 6, 1863 and was the oldest son of Jerome H.B. and Margaret R. (Bell) Sellers. He married Rachel Masincup on December 23, 1891. He was so named by Jerome in honor of Jerome's own older brother, James Montgomery Sellers (1837 - 1871). Unfortunately, I don't yet know much else about him. Where did you see/find his info? 3. MICHAEL, thanks. GEORGIA'S search results to 1930 SD will help find much = you know where they are in these years. Which is the info we needed. SOUTH DAKOTA homesteaded land which could be why they went? KIDS may NOT have liked the will/deed in VA could also be why they left? OR better pastures? I haven't finished ALL the collected info yet, But, looks good. Course you know, Madison Co, Iowa = the covered bridges and book = BRIDGES OF MADISON CO, IA and was there a movie yet? It would appear that Samuel was indeed in Iowa for an extended period of time since you've shown with the Census info that children Jerome Bruce in 1897 and Arena Lucile in 1901 were born in Iowa. Evidently all 3 brothers went to Iowa together which is certainly news to me. What becomes the mystery now is when did Samuel Howard Sellers head for S.Dakota and WHY? The fact that the other two brothers remained in Iowa makes it all the more strange. Beyond that, I don't have any info either which points to why they left VA in the first place! It would also appear from this 1930 info that Jerome Bruce did indeed inherit the farm from his father, Samuel Howard Sellers, upon Samuel's death in 1940. When my grandfather and I visited Bruce in the summer of 1981, the land hadn't held a crop for quite some time and the buildings were in need of some attention and upkeep. Bruce's third attempt at suicide succeeded in March 1982. Though Bruce was married twice (1 - Nora Eva Dunham; 2 - Evelyn Patterson), there does not appear to be any children from either marriage. Again, I appreciate the effort to get and send this info. It certainly helps alot. 3. Georgia/Marie, I have found William Arthur Sellers in Madison County, Iowa as well for the 1900 Census. Unfortunately, the only info I have is a brief index listing Page and Line numbers. The Page number is 227B. The Line number is 56. Could some kind soul please see if they can lookup the 1900 Madison County, Iowa Census on Page #227B, line #56 for "Wm A Sellers Age 30"? Though William appears in Madison County, Iowa with brother Samuel Howard Sellers, they do not appear to live next to each other or even in close proximity. Since William Arthur Sellers and Ida Harrell weren't married until 3 October 1900, William will probably appear alone on the Census. This also means that they were married in Madison County, Iowa and not Augusta County, Virginia as I had erroneously assumed earlier. Overall, that points to two of the brothers, Samuel and William, as being in Madison County, Iowa on the 1900 Census. Question now is, where is middle brother John Newton Sellers? 1. RE: [SELLERS] SAMUEL HOWARD SELLERS 1900 MADISON CO, IA

    3. Marie, Thanks for the great info. It helps to explain a little bit on the brothers. Georgia's earlier info for William Arthur Sellers from the 1930 Iowa Census shows him as being in Madison County. Now, we find Howard Sellers 30 years earlier also in Madison County, Iowa prior to his move to S.D. It would therefore appear that the 3 brothers originally settled in Madison County, Iowa after the move from Virginia. The people listed prove definitively that this is Census info for Samuel Howard Sellers, son of Jerome H.B. and Margaret R. (Bell) Sellers. Samuel Howard's first wife, Clara, is listed along with son Jerome Bruce and daughters Mary Elizabeth and Leona Marie. The birth year listed for "LEO" (Leona Marie) is incorrect, tho. She was born in 1899 not 1889. I would assume that both of the other 2 brothers, John Newton Sellers and William Arthur Sellers, would be/could be found in the 1900 Madison County, Iowa Census. Samuel Howard is the only one of the 3 who eventually went to SD, so its doubtful there is any family info for them in Davison Co, SD as early as 1900. You are correct in believing that George was still in VA in 1910. George, born in 1871, remained in VA and always lived in VA. He eventually inherited the farm outside of Churchville (Augusta County) Virginia from Jerome H.B. Sellers when Jerome passed 27 Feb 1910. Robert Lee Sellers was born 18 Jan 1905 and died 26 May 1937. He married Nora Verda Brown in November 1933. He supposedly lived in Yankton, Yankton County, S.D. If he can be found on the 1930 S.D. Again, thanks for the much appreciated effort and info. Now that we've established where these children were, I'm hopeful I can find not only where they are buried but also where Samuel Howard Sellers and either of his two wives are buried as well. 3. Georgia, Thanks for the excellent info and effort. Jerome and Margaret SELLERS were my Great Great Grandparents. The George Sellers, age 8, that is listed on the Census was my Great Grandfather, George W. Sellers, who eventually was deeded the farm from Jerome. George's only son, Whitfield T. Sellers, was my grandfather who passed away May 6, 2002 at the age of 94. Whitfield had gotten the farm when George passed in 1950. The "Howard, John, and Willie" listed on the 1880 Census is the Samuel Howard, John Newton, and William Arthur SELLERS in question. It is unclear when these 3 sons moved to the midwest ... Samuel Howard to South Dakota while John Newton and William Arthur went to Iowa. I have a family picture of Jerome, Margaret, their children and grandchildren taken at the house on their farm outside of Churchville, Augusta County, Virginia in what I believe was in early Spring, 1907. Samuel Howard, John Newton, and William Arthur are all present in the picture with the rest of the family. Thus, I believe their migration to the Iowa and Dakota territories was not only after 1907 but was probably even after June 1910 when father Jerome Howard Brown SELLERS died. A check of the 1910 Augusta County Virginia Census could possibly confirm (or deny) that. As for the 1900 Census, Jerome and Margaret should still be found on the same farm outside of Churchville in Augusta County, Virginia. Jerome got the farm from his father, John Conrad Sellers, and then passed it on to his own son, George W. Sellers. I'm not familiar with the "1910 STAUNTON, ?? , WASH POST, WASH DC" reference nor with the Staunton County reference that has been made. Jerome H.B. and Margaret R. (Bell) SELLERS lived on the farm in Churchville until their deaths, and both are buried in the Green Hill Cemetery in Churchville, Virginia. I believe Staunton County was once the area immediately surrounding the now-independent city of Staunton. However, that area is no longer "Staunton County". Michael Sellers
