The other older male is born 1771-1780. I read this as a widower with his son and son's family in the household. According to my records, this Eldred Sellers is the father of Almon(d) Lewis Sellers. He was born "about 1770". The female (age 50-60) in the household is Eldred's wife Penelope, born 1770-1779. Eldred's father was James Sellers, born NC 1736-1737. Eldred's siblings are James Jr., born 1765-1769, Nathaniel, born 1765-1770, Lewis, born 1774-1775, Two unknown males, born 1774-1784, and Willets, born about 1778. I got this info from other researchers, and have not independently proven it. Hope it helps. -Ed Hudson

Now, the question is, has anyone on the list also heard this? Also, could the name have been also Zeller, Keller, Ciller...etc? I'd be interested in hearing some discussion along these lines. Ann K.

    3. My experience has been that if the name was originally 'Zeller' prior to becoming 'Sellers', then it designated that the line was of German descent. That is the case for my line as my 6 Great Grandfather was Heinrich Zeller. Born in Mottgers, Hesse, Germany in 1704, he and the family emigrated to America in 1738 when they landed in Philadelphia. My same experience has been that if the name was Sellers when they arrived in America, then they were usually of Anglican descent from England, Ireland, Scotland, etc., ie, non-German. I've seen the name misspelled in various records as Siller, Sellar, Keller, Ciller, etc. Personally, I've never seen nor heard of the name "von Scheller", but stranger things have happened ... 3. The only Eldred's I know of (at least in this branch of Sellers) are Eldred or Ethelred father of Almon Lewis Sellers (not sure of this Eldred's birth date - "possibly" between 1770/1775) and Edmund Eldred (E.E.) son of Almon Lewis, born 1830. 3. Rosella: This is amazing information about the Indian Chief. Many Sellers cousins have asked me if I have come across the information about our line having Indian blood. I have not discovered any because I cannot find the parents of our patriarch, DR. JOHN WARD SELLERS, b. 1825-27 ALABAMA, married to LYNIA JANE GODWIN, b. 1828-30 NC and marr. NOV 1845 in PIKE CO., AL. They were in TX by 1854 in CORYELL CO., TX, 1860 in WISE CO., TX, 1861-67 JACK CO., TX, 1870 CORYELL CO., TX, 1880 BURNET CO., TX, & he died visiting his oldest son, DR. MARVEL WHITNEY SELLERS, in GLORIETA, NM on Jan. 1, 1889. Both Doctors lived and worked around the many forts in TX and were related somehow to the other SELLERS in CORYELL CO., TX. Have you ever come across any info of a brother to some of your SELLERS' ancestors coming to TX and being a doctor? Did I miss where it was stated on the record? Probably not. I may have found it somewhere else. Check back with me in a few weeks and remind me to look again. I did not know how to attach my documentation to my FTW files until after I had put in about five years worth of research.
