    3. Marie, thank you very much. Actually, I would be of no help to the Sellers concerning DNA. My 2nd great grandmother was Amie Ann Sellers, born in Grainger County, Tennessee on February 4, 1824. She was a daughter of John Sellers and Eleanor Brock and the granddaughter of James Sellers, born about 1759 in North Carolina. Eldon J. 3. ELDON, thanks. The BURKE AND CHATHAM CO, NC SELLERS are probably related, BUT, we would be interested in DNA tests from YOU/OUR proven SELLERS. REV WAR JAMES SELLERS born ca 1759 enlisted 1779 CHATHAM CO, NC, lived BURKE CO, NC before he was in 1833 GRAINGER CO, TN INTERESTED in doing a DNA test? = scrap inside mouth/cheek with soft brush and send to lab and they send us dna results. IT costs about $100. and the lab readings, if you approve, will be posted on the SELLERS DNA result page to compare with other SELLERS from all families and hopefully we end up with several from each branch . Ans> The original documentation came from Helen Siepker (descends from Susan [Sellers} Call) and Family who went to Cumberland County, PA and researched it. Question? Where did any Child marry and go to? Ans. From Helen Siepker> (also see above) The westward migration of Henry and Catherine Sellers and their Children began between 1836 & 1837. Eventually Susan (who married Dennis Call, in PA), John, Henry, David and Moses all purchased Land in Lawrence and Martin Counties, Indiana. In the 1850's, Catherine Sellers and Children Susan, John, David and Catherine and their Families, Jane, Elias, Simpson and George moved to Pike County, Illinois. Henry and Moses remained and spent the rest of their lives in Indiana. Scant evidence suggests Sallie also remained in Indiana. The only reference to her is in a Letter written in 1887 by Susan Call to her Brother in which she mentions Sallie's death. Question? > Also 1812 War of PA, do we have. Need. Ans.> I have no Information on that. Sincerely, Edward L. Sellers

    3. EDWARD , thank you. so the father was probably not a SELLERS. okay. you are correct, the dna test would not help on the SELLERS line = You have a surname project, A. One of the participants had a child with a father by surname B but kept surname A. However, all male children therefter would have B's y-DNA rather than A. So, the descendants, although having the same surname would not match the other participants in the project unless the surname B was related as well to a common ancestor. I have seen the same thing on the opposite side. I have a man whose father changed his name to something else. But his DNA is actually that of the surname project, even though his last name is totally different. In that case, that man can take the test because he ought to match. Saying that the surname must be coupled with a y-dna male descent. thanks for sharing. marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: els5993@aol.com [mailto:els5993@aol.com] Sent: Monday, November 10, 2003 12:53 PM To: SELLERS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [SELLERS] SELLERS dna update/HENRY SELLERS 1788 PA/CUMBERLAND CO? 2. Lisa Pollard
    3. Dear Marie; I joined the group a short time ago trying to complete what my father had started. Here is what I have been able to determine about my Sellers genealogy so far. Please forgive me if it displayed correctly. According to the Genealogical and History Sketch my father ordered (date unknown) this is where our Sellers line began. Earliest records of the Sellers name in England England 1273 Adam de Celer of Yorkshire, England 1273 Roger de Celer of Yorkshire, England 1273 Henry Sellarius of Warwickshire London 1273 Richard Sellarius About the same time those of Warin, John and Hugh le Seler, who were living in the year 1300 Later part of the thirteenth century Bartholomew Sellarius County Kent England 1379 Alicia,Adam, Juliana and Agnes del Seler of Yorkshire Thomas Sellers og London latter sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, who had a son named George; and those of Thomas Sellers of St. James Clerkenwell London, early seventeenth century, who had a son named Robet, living in the year 1617. The Kent County branch branch of the family in England was represented in the latter 1600 by one John Seller or (Sellers), who was Rector of Eithorne and Saltwood, in that county. He married Anne, daughter of Thomas Cranmer of Canterbury, and had issue by her of four sons, Michaell, John, Henry and Charles. Youngest son Charles settled at London before 1634, was the father by his wife Anne, daughter of William Sewall, Mayor and Alderman of Coventury, of at least three sons, George, John and Charles The earliest German family of the same name is Hans Georg Soller of Weinheim in the early part of the seventeenth century and was the father of Hans Paul Soller, who married Anne Maria Schnider in 1665. Father of Hans Paul, Hans Adam, Hans Georg and Anna Maria ( died young), Anna Rosina, Hans Heinrich and Anna Maria. Hans Paul Soller married Christina Muller, she died 1695. Hans Paul Soller second wife Anna Maria Heilmann. Hans Paul was the father of Maria Salome, Paul Christian, Johann Conrad, John Stephan and Anna Katharina of whom the eldest son died without issue. Johann Conrad, second son was the father by his wife, Anna Maria Margaretha Reinwirth, whomhe married in 1741 of Johanna Christoph, Maria Katharina, Anna Maria, Maria Philippina and Johanna Peter. Hans Adam Soller second son of Hans Paul Soller/ Anne Maria Schnider was the father by his wife Margaretha( surname unknown) of Anna Katharina(died young), Philipp Heinrich, and another Anna Katharina, of whom the only son Philipp Heinrich Sollers, emigrated from Germany to Franconia, Pa in 1728. Hans Heinrich Soller third son of Hans Paul and Anne Maria Schnider, married Maria Katharina of AnnaMargaretha, Johann Philipp, Johann Jakob, Johann Wendel and several others. One Samuel Sellers, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Sellers of Derbyshire, England, emigrated to Philadelphia Pa., with his brother George about 1681, who was accidentally killed shortly after his arrival to America, no decendents. Samuel was married in 1684 to Anna Gibbons. Their childern, Sarah, Mary, Samuel, Anna, Geroge and Elizabeth. Samuel Sellers Jr. resided at Derby, Pa, married Sarah Smith in 1712, childern, Samuel, Hannah, Elizabeth, John, (died young), Mary, Joseph, and another John. The genealogical history goes on a bit more but here is my direct family; My GG granfather was Reverened Samuel J. Sellers B:10/09/1871, D:10/27/1955 He was either from Wicthitall or Rockwall Texas? Married Tina Trout B;8/24/1876 D:02/24/1948, not sure where she is from. Samuel J. Sellers brother and sister were: Rosa B. I have pictures of thier headstone,William N. Sellers, Joe A. Sellers, Tina (Trout) Sellers, and Robert Samuel, Rosa, Samuel J, Nora but can't make out the dates on her headstone. Nor do I know the name of the cemertary where they are buried, I have looked just can't find them yet. Samuel J. Billy Sellers, Birth place and place of death not sure yet Robert Sameul Sellers Jr (My father), B:01/03/1938 D:05/04/2001 Born in Fort Woth Texas. 2. I would love to be a part of the DNA Testing, but as I understand it, one must be of direct Male Descendant. Is that correct? This is as far back as I am able to go on my line> Henry Sellers I b. abt. 1788 (Pa) m. I have been reading all the entry's on the Sellers List for 2 or more years and I have been able to help on 2 Occasions. I have, however, never seen any entry regarding my Line. I have not found the Parents of Henry Sellers I (PA). The hand me down stories has it that my Ancestors came from Germany and were in the Shenandoah Valley, VA. Note 2. I have once seen listed, I think with the help of Marie, the Info I sent in of what I know about my Line, on a page called Ed's Page. I have forgotten how to pull it up but did notice my e-mail Address is listed incorrectly. It should be; els5993@aol.com Thank you and good Luck on the DNA testing. I wish I could be a part of that. I will refer to myself with my full name in that there is another Ed Sellers who is very active on the List. Sincerely...............Edward L. Sellers(IN)..........els5993@aol.com

    3. I am descended from James Sellers of Grainger County who was born about 1759 and served as a Private, North Carolina Line. He was on the 1835 tax list for Grainger County with $30.00 annual allowance, $192.48 amount received, pension started July 26, 1833, age 77. Are you related to James? If so, I would very much like to exchange information. Eldon J. 3. If the test results match that does not prove brothers... It merely indicates that most likely the two men whose DNA matches have a common male ancestor, who could be *many generations* back. Also a comparison could be done with the descendant of Robert Sellers Jr. with Micah Sellers descendants to see if they are related. Right now we think that Micah's father, James is a brother to Robert Sellers Jr. My Sellers line is a female line so I cannot be of any help here. Georgia
