I am new to the Sellers list serve, and I want to make sure that I am in the right group. My great-great-grandfather was Robert Preston Sellers (b. 1868 in Mesa, AZ), son of Samuel Sellers (b. 1845 Jackson County, Alabama), son of Robert Sellers (b. 1808 Tennesee, m. Daughter Eugenia, age 14, born Texas, father born Arkansas, mother born Missouri.; mother-in-law xxxxxx Chandler, age 88, born Tennessee (the married 10 years cannot be correct) Did he apply for a Confederate Pension #32629 in Wise County, Texas? This person's widow, Laura Alice Sellars applied for a widow's pension #33991 in Tarrant County, Texas. My question is - Is this William C. Travis, I note that you are referring to John Sellers born 1783 in Columbia, Tennessee, which is in Maury County. My Sellers are from Maury County, Tennessee, but not as early as 1783. Tell me what you know about your John Sellers and Robert Sellers that were born in Tennessee. I am a descendant of James T/Y Sellers that died in Chatham County, NC circa 1805 through his son, Isaac Sellers that married Judith Johnson. Isaac died in Maury County, TN in 1830. We have many Johns and Roberts that we don't know what happened to them. My father had three sons and me. They are living and I haven't talked to them about listing them. I listed his sisters because they are probably not alive. My son and I are putting together family history in his computer and on paper. If I see someone asking about someone I know about, I post a reply. I had to change a post in cousinsconnect because my cousin saw it and I had listed her father. So I'm more careful now. I have been everywhere in cal. that I can find on the net. Records of births in the late 1800s are few and hard to find. I am having trouble finding records of my Grandmother on my mothers side. Thank you for listening. Gracie

GRACIE, thanks. this kind of info helps, so we know which Alexander, etc we are looking for . So, if you go to the census records every 10 years, you can see when/where kids born and check those areas for marriages, deaths, etc. 1880 he even has his mother living with him, so you can probably find him on an 1850 VA? census living with his parents. thank you for sharing. you will probably get a genealogy program to post your info in. some forms are available free on line to post info. do a search, etc., marie, iowa 1880 Census Place: Sterling, Rice, Kansas Source: FHL Film 1254394 National Archives Film T9-0394 Page 178A Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace Alexander SELLERS Self M M W 32 VA Occ: Laborer Fa: VA Mo: VA Mary E. Some of this is personal. My information came from my father's file at the funeral home and his head stone. I didn't ask the right questions while he was alive. I lost my mother in 1998 so I have no one to ask now. I haven't looked at the census. My father and mother were married here in Okla. in 1940. Her name was Anna Mae (Hager) Sellers.
