A History of Marion County, South Carolina from its earliest times to the present, 1901 by W W Sellers, Esq of the Marion Bar it was published by Southern Historical Press Inc. The email address for the Library is Reference@library.dcr.state.nc.us excerpt of the McDuffie Family reads McDuffie--Alexander McDuffie, with his brothers, Duncan, George and Daniel, were the sons of Archie McDuffie, who came from Scotland, and settled on the Raft Swamp, in North Carolina, and died there, his sons and two daughters removing to this county after his death. Alexander, the eldest, settling on what is now known as the old "McDuffie place." on Little Pee Dee, where the Rev. J. H. Moody now lives; he married Jennette McQueen, and had seven sons and two daughters. Mary, the eldest daughter, married Daniel Fore, on Spring Branch, ETC Margaret the other daughter married Edward D Carmichael, a son of "Hatter John" etc Hon. A.Q. McDuffie, the oldest son, he was a lawyer etc He married the widow of of Dr. James R. McQueen etc. Neil McDuffie was the second son. etc He married Mary Ann, , the oldest daughter of Dougald B. Carmichael etc. Of the next sons John and George, the latter a physician, went West, and both are dead; neither of them were married. Daniel was mortally wounded at the battle of Gettysburg and died the next day. Duncan, the youngest son married Margaret Clark, a daughter of Malcolm Clark etc. end of excerpt. It was too lengthy to quote the entire article. The book also has an index of families written in it which is too long for me to list There is also a short version of the excerpt transcribed and contributed to Marion County SCGenWeb by Helen Moody I think the web site is www.geocities.com/BourbonStreet/1786/Marion/Settler_McDuffie.html I got this Descendancy chart from Family History Department atttn Ancestral File Contributions 50 East Temple ST Salt Lake City UT 84150 Archibald McDuffie (1GGS-KBQ) born Abt 1765, Scotland sp. Read my e-mail below to Roots Web about a darn book that was for sale on E-Bay. Emily e-mailed me direct with the message below about a History of Moore County, NC written by someone named Sellers. Actually she is researching the McDuffie family and found a book by this Mr. Sellers with a page in it about the McDuffie's of North and South Carolina. Post a message on Roots Web (address below) and see if she answers you. As you can see, this is the only thing that I saved from her. I did write her back and tell her of a McDuffie family that lived in Moore County that I knew as a child and were friends of my Mother, but that was in WWII. Rollie - congratulations on your retirement. You "googled" the correct Tom Jackson - I'm active here in Cincinnati with Children's International Summer Villages - a foreign exchange program that my 13-year old daughter, Delaney, participates in. Your offer of additional information on the Sellers-Dunn line, and what you've already shared by email, is greatly appreciated. My family and I have passed Straight Creek in Brown County many times on rural rambles - so I look forward to pinning down the Dunn's homestead. We also have friends on a farm in Robertson County, Kentucky - just south of Maysville - so hope to physically identify Jacob Seller's origin at some point. My line to Leannah is as follows (genealogy reporting nomenclature isn't my strong suit): Thomas M. Jackson, son of Richard L. Jackson, son of Guy C Jackson, son of Omer Jackson, husband to Lilly Irene Hillman (Hillmon?), daughter of Charles Hillman and Ida Rader, daughter of Joseph Rader and Leannah Sellers My father Richard was born and raised in New Boston, Mercer County, Illinois and I was born in Urbana, IL when he was at Illinois after the Korean War. My mother, Margaret A. Manning, was from southwestern Missouri (Ozarks). I spent most of my childhood in Cedar Rapids, IA where my father took a job with Collin's Radio (now Rockwell Intl.) and my mother taught elementary school. They're still there - so that's my Iowa connection. My partner, Sally Krisel, was raised in Omaha where her father still resides. Between traveling back and forth from Cedar Rapids to Ames where I graduated in 1981 - and taking Highway 30 between CR and Omaha - I've been through Marshalltown many times. Again - great to make your acquaintance. Full-time work, the kid's soccer games and my ignorance of many genealogical research methods may limit the utility of this offer, but please let me know if there's any assistance I can provide you in checking sources in this area. Tom, dawn Marie, and Marie H.: Hello and Happy New Year! Go Sellers! Sorry for the long silence, but I just discharged my last obligation under my university's faculty early retirement program. So . . . I am now free as a bird -- and look out, dead ancestors. Tom, are you the fellow who lives in the Cincinnati area, who is active in working with children, and who comes up when one does a Google search using SKRISTJACK? If so, you live close to the [now] Brown County - Adams County, Ohio, border where Leannah Sellers's parents once lived and paid taxes in northeastern Brown County on Straight Creek -- in the 1820s, or so. Her parents were Jacob Sellers (1793 - 1857)and his wife Deborah/Debra/DeBora (Dunn) Sellers (ca. 1791 - shortly aft. 1850). I am not sure whether the Dunn surname is Deborah's maiden name, or is the surname of a deceased youthful first husband. Both of Leannah's parents become complicated to follow back further. I have been to Georgetown, Ohio, a couple of times in the last few years and have worked there with the good people who run the Brown County Historical and Genealogical Society there. By now you have read dawn Marie's very recent e-mail which correctly associates Leannah (Sellers) Rader's younger sister, Olive (Sellers) Crook, with her second husband, John Wyland Ditto. Olive married John in Mercer County, Illinois, on 11 November 1873 according to the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, which is available on-line. If you would be willing to supply me with your U. S. Postal Service mailing address by return e-mail, I would be glad to print off and mail to you some family group sheets and 40-some-odd pages of a Sellers-Dunn time line which has your Leannah (Sellers) Rader and Joseph Rader on it. dawn and Marie H. already have this, I think. I have the following note regarding Joseph Rader: "In the 1850 federal census returns for the township which became New Boston Twp., Mercer County, Illinois, there is a Joseph N. Rader, aged 24, farmer, boarding in the household of Pettis and Ester Finch, near other families who married children of Jacob Sellers in that county. In fact, I think one of the Sellers boys married a Finch girl, but my memory could be mistaken on this point. -- RKH 17 June 2001" How, exactly, do you and your family connect up with Leannah and Joseph? Where are your relatives located in Iowa and Nebraska? What is your descending line back to Leannah and Joseph? I was born to Cyril Ernest "Cy" Hauser and Alice (Sellers) Hauser in Marshalltown, Marshall County, Iowa, and grew up on a farm just outside of Williams, Hamilton County, Iowa. I graduated in 1960 with a bachelor's degree from Iowa State University in Ames. Hope to hear from you soon. Cheers. Rollie Hauser Rolland K. Samuel was Williams half brother. I would like to know more about this since I have a son that is also interested in this. If you need to find another male Sellers descendant for the test, please let us know. Thanks, Suzie

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JWGBAEB/1083.2.1 Message Board Post: I'm sorry, but I've been a little out of commission in the last couple of months. My grandfather, Willis Elmer Sellers, was born in Chicago, Ill., on May 19, 1904. His father was John Sellers, born about 1863 in Chicago and Lillie (or Lillian) Appel, born about 1868 in Chicago. He had several siblings including Frederick, Lillian, Harry, Emmett, Roy, Mildred, Edward and John. Also, please note I have a new e-mail address. I hope this might fit in with either of you. Again, I apologize for the delay. His mother died when he was about 10 years old. Before John married Lillie, he'd been married to her older sister, Annie Appel, who died.
PAULEEN, thank you. will send thro our SELLERS group and see if they want a look up. If the list isn't too long, could you copy the names and send and we can post on our Bavaria page which does Not have much info. marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: P Cass [mailto:p.cass@bigpond.com] Sent: Thursday, January 01, 2004 12:02 AM To: mari@netins.net Cc: Ginsgeno@aol.com Subject: Zellers-Bavaria hi Marie & Gina I have only today seen your queries on Zellers in Bavaria -perhaps you already have all the answers you need. I thought I would mention to you that in northern Bavaria they regard towns as only 2kms away as being a different area --very different from the US or Australian experience. Grossheubach is quite close to where some Zollers emigrated from Dorfprozelten -however see my point above. I have a history of Dorf. which lists many names --if you want to send me the names you were looking for I'll check it's not in there. If you already have solved your problems --no worries. I was interested in the naturalisation certificate you mentioned & what they included. I believe that emigrants had to revoke their citizenship entitlements but have been unable to find any copies. In fact I asked at the Wurzburg Archives in June and was told they don't exist --unless my German let me down badly, which is possible. I am always cautious of people insisting that when it says Bavaria it is really not correct --when I started my research here in Australia I was dogmatically told by the German Family History expert that there were no Bavarian or Catholic immigrants to Queensland (one of our states). I eventually proved him badly wrong but only by being wilfully stubborn and getting lucky with some data Cheers Pauleen Cass PO Box 341 NIGHTCLIFF NT 0814 Australia.
