The item that appeared on the Sumter County list recently, about "Jac__" and "Georgian" Sellers didn't exactly "do it"... but they set me off again searching for the answers to the mysteries in my dad's oral history about Richard M. Sellars' father's death in the Civil War and "Alford Sellars" finding Richard M. and reuniting him with the surviving members of his family many years after the war... Every time I tried that before, for almost 30 years now, I just ran in circles for awhile and gave up. This time I succeeded far above my wildest expectations. Though I must admit that some of documentation is less than perfect in detail & completeness, complemented with the oral history it both makes a coherent whole and fills in blanks in places where I didn't even know there were blanks. I found so many facts so fast that it's going to take me awhile to put them together coherently and tie up some inevitable loose ends. So... this e-mail is just a teaser... and for me to GLOAT. (Well... just a *little* bit.) <G> I'll put the finished product up on some web pages as soon as I can, and will send the URLs for those pages to the list. I have found so incredibly many Sellers family relationships that I did not previously know of, that it seems almost inevitable that my information will now tie together in various directions with that of other folks on this list. I will put together a few facts in here, though: 1. Jacob Benjamin Sellers (sic) enrolled in Company E of the 51st Georgia Infantry Regiment on 4 March 1862, as did his oldest son (who I never even heard of till a couple of days ago) George W. Sellars (sic). J.B. most likely died immediately after that. There is no specific record of his death, but there is no further record of him in the 51st Georgia and there is a sworn statement by Susan O. Sellers (wife of Elijah Sellers, I believe), made in 1864, which said that George W. Sellars and his mother and father were dead... and that she was somebody's sister in law. I cannot decipher all of the words of the document well enough to be sure whose sister-in-law she was. It reads like it might mean that she was George W.'s, but I think that she would have had to have been Jacob B.'s sister-in-law. 2. THERE NEVER WAS AN "ALFORD SELLARS"... which is, of course, a pretty good reason why I couldn't find one! <G> Georgia Ann Joiner married Jacob Benjamin Sellers in Pulaski County, GA, on 11 September 1838. Family oral history (not from my dad but from various other relatives) says that Georgia Ann Joiner was born at Camilla while it was still in Indian Lands. In the 1860 census George W. Sellers is shown as living in Camilla, Mitchell Co, in the household of ***ALFRED JOINER***! There is the long sought "Alford". He wasn't a brother of R.M. Sellers. He was a brother (I presume) of R.M. Sellers' mother, Georgia Ann Joiner!!! That's enough for now. Stay tuned folks. I'll be baaaack. <G> Richard White Tallahassee, FL

Reed H. Sellers, son of Harry Heil Sellers, according to the Social Security Death Index, died in Loudonville, Ashland County, Ohio, in 1993 so there are probably Sellers still living in Ashland County, Ohio. Is anyone on the Sellers List close to Ashland County, Ohio? Possibly they could contact a Sellers in Loudonville to see if they know who the Bible belongs to. I would surely hate to see it outside of the rightful family. HARRY, how does he connect to your family? He should be on a 1900 MS? census with his parents. WE don't seem to have this 1900 census? But, he could be listed with another first/middle name? IF our SELLERS don't respond. Go to usgenweb , ms and ask for a look up on 1900/1910 census and advise who he is. MICHAEL, I see a George SELLERS d 1860 with wife Nancy in Fulton Co., OH, and sons Elias, John and Jacob, but , no son Frederick listed. How did we prove this? Thank you for the history / chart. marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: Sellers.Michael [mailto:msellers@acresgaming.com] Sent: Friday, January 23, 2004 4:37 PM To: SELLERS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [SELLERS] Bible For Sale - Surnames: Craig, Sellers Marie, Georgia, et. al., Yes, I believe you are correct in the direction you are going with this family. The earlier mentioned Lewis Harlan Sellers was the son of Harry and Ella (Jefferies) Sellers. In turn, Harry was the son of Heli (H. Eli?) Sellers (2 March 1845 - 24 Dec 1910) and Elva Catherine Clinker. Elva was Heli's second wife. I believe his first wife was Elizabeth Lipsett Parrott. Heli and Elizabeth had 5 children before they divorced. Heli then had another 5 children with Elva, which included Harry. Heli Sellers was, in turn, the son of Fredrick Sellers and Sarah Pinkley (22 Apr 1821 - 23 Mar 1903), and was one of 9 children. Fredrick was the son of George Sellers (9 May 1783 - 25 Jan 1860) and Nancy Damoth (17 Oct 1792 - 29 Jun 1882) and was himself one of 9 children. Fredrick had a brother named Elias, which I think could be the basis for the name "Heli" or an indication that it was instead some form of "Eli" ... Old family Bible dated 1892, in poor physical condition with a taped-on back cover and a stitched-on front cover, and some loose and probably a few missing pages. Bible is illustrated with several large black and white illustrations. The Marriages, Births, and Deaths pages are full of names and dates, with dates ranging from 1845 to 1973 and the most common surnames of Craig and Sellers. http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=776418
On the 1900 Ashland Co. OH Census, the listed "Heli Sellers" and "Sylvester Sellers" were brothers as both were sons of Fredrick and Sarah (Pinkley) Sellers. Also on this Census list is Bertha Sellers who is shown in the household of Christopher and Elizabeth Reeder. By 1900 Bertha (Reeder) Sellers was the widow of Ruben Joseph Sellers, son of Heli Sellers and Elizabeth Lipsett Parrott, who had earlier died on 22 Mar 1899 and had moved back home. The three young boys subsequently listed, Frank, Benj R, and Joesph were sons of Ruben Joseph and Bertha (Reeder) Sellers, though I have "Benj R" listed as being named after his father as "Reuben E". I believe Lewis was the son of Harry Heli Sellers (14 January 1889 - 9 Sept. 1961) and Ella Eleanor Jeffries (3 Mar 1885 - 3 Jan 1969). Lewis's siblings were Wilbert Ernie, Florence Viola, Marion Lee, Kathryn Elva, and Ivan Ira Sellers. I think these siblings are also listed on the Birth pages below Lewis. They weren't part of my line, so unfortunately I don't have anymore info. But, perhaps it will help someone else on the list if this is part of their family. Marie, Georgia, et. al., Yes, I believe you are correct in the direction you are going with this family.
