Ummmm......I'm not sure if ebay has the same rules or not, but it used to be acceptable for one buyer to contact another. I know when we had this same sort of thing happen with another of my surnames some of the cousins contacted the other buyers and even though that buyer was also a descendant she was nice enough to agree to share.....though this was concerning several photos not just a single bible. On the bottom of the Births page of this Bible is says Daniel Bowman was born June 16, 1868. I found out by researching the census records that Harry Heli Sellers' mother Elva Catherine Clinker remarried Daniel Bowman when Eli/Heli Sellers died. The census lists her name as Elizabeth however. Reed L. Sellers, brother to Harry Heli Sellers, is in the household in 1920 Ashland County, Ohio, and listed as a stepson. Georgia
Here are a few names of Sellers that were from Ashland County, Ohio, that could possibly be alive: Ray Sellers born 1913 in Ashland County, Ohio, son of Ira Cleveland Sellers Jacob Sellers born 1920 in Ashland County, Ohio, son of Ira Cleveland Sellers Ross S. Sellers born 1923 in Ashland County, Ohio, son of Ira Cleveland Sellers Elmer Sellers born 1926, son of Leroy Sellers Elmer Sellers born 1917, son of Bert Sellers Glenn Sellers, born 1923 in Ashland County, Ohio, son of Fred Sellers Clayton Sellers, born 1921 in Ashland County, Ohio, son of Fred Sellers Harold Sellers born 1919, Ashland County, Ohio, son of Amos Sellers Donald Sellers, born 1926, Ashland County, Ohio, son of Amos Sellers Ivan Ira Sellers, born 1924, son of Harry Sellers I don't know if they still live in the county or whether they are alive or not. On Last Saturday, about 3 o'clock, on returning from Camden to their home at Possum Bend, Joe West, a negro, who had been drinking and who was considerably wrought up on account of his wife leaving him, concluded to settle his family troubles with a 44 Smith and Wesson, and shot his sister-in-law, Hattie Baldwin, killing her instantly. His intention was to kill his wife, but she escaped with a few blows on her head with the pistol after it was emptied. In the shooting Sam Peyton and another negro man were both badly wounded. The murderer was captured by the negroes of the neighborhood; who were preparing to lynch him but were prevented by the arrival of the officers who brought him to jail. Joe West comes from bad negro stock. He is a son of Sylvester West who was connected with the murder of Mike Sellers several years ago, but escaped by turning states evidence. He afterwards was sent to the penitentiary for life for the murder of a negro by the name of Jim Bridges, and was killed by the prison guards in an attempt to escape. Presuming that we are talking about the same person, though we are both his great grandsons you must be a great deal older than me because he died in 1926 and I wasn't born till over 20 years later. I'll be watching. I have his children all down, but in some cases there is a lot of information missing. My grandmother was Martha Bama Sellars White. Have you seen the photos of R.M.? See: http://pone.com/ts/rw003.htm Do you have any more photos of him or of his sister Matt Veal or other older family members? (I have the 1916 family reunion photo, but it is a copy of a copy and R.M. eyes are missing... smudged out... in my copy.) If you follow the links to their pages, though, don't pay too literal attention to what I've said there so far about Jacob B. or George W. I'm still trying to assimilate what I just discovered and there may be both corrections and additions to what is on their pages at this point. I am pretty sure that Elijah (Eli) and think it possible that Sergeant John M. Sellers of Appling County, Georgia, both of the 47th Georgia Infantry Regiment, are also fairly close relatives... but I'm still trying to sort that out and line up the facts. A lot hinges on a legal claim made by Susan O. Sellers... and I'm not sure that I'm ever going to be able to read even most of what it says because the copy is so bad. I'm going to contact the National Archives and see if they can & will make a copy from the actual document as opposed to the microfilm copy that I'm working from now... but who knows, at this point, if that's even possible, much less if they will do it? If you are descended from R.M. Sellars and Mary Ann Haven, you will be interested as well in my pages on the same web site about Haven family members. I'm currently getting a lot of information on J.S. Haven's youngest son, Thomas, who was pretty well missing from the known genealogy till recently. There are also some older sons who are presumed to have died in youth... but that is not documented that I know of and you never know, till you know.
