Sellers of 1886 and Sellers of 1800, thats a long way. The one thing the Sellers did was name at leasr one of their offsprings "John". Some used "John as a middle name and were known as "John" when in fact they had another name which was their first name. As your "John' 1800, his first name was King, and died in the war, Civil, about 1865. I have 6 "John"s in my computer. It does get comfusing. Harry

Mari, Thanks for all the wonderful info. It would seem that there are two or three likely candidates. From what youve shown me, I am going to concentrate on Bladen Co, NC. I have Census records from 1910, WASHINGTON CO, AL which Place MY DANIEL LEE SELLERS, in the same house as DANIEL W. SELLERS. you have provided a census record from that same county which, apparently, I missed the first time, from 1880, Which also contains a DANIEL W. Sellers, b. in NC and is the right age. This DOES appear to match what my records indicate as being correct in 1910 in that same county. And the 1880 census appears to match what you have found in Bladen Co, NC. So, the questions now that remain are, Can I find the marriage record in Washington Co AL that lists His second marriage to Unknown? And what are the roots of the 1870 Bladen Co. Census. There are still a few things Im trying to figure out as well. In 1910 in Washington Co, AL, living 4 houses down from Daniel W. is a Richard Sellers and his wife. His age is 45 which would make him b. apprx. 1865. There is probably a connection there somewhere. Brothers? Cousins? Father/son? Secondly, what happened to Daniel's second wife? She either divorced him and left, or she died by 1910, because she is not on the census. But she was still there in 1898, as that is when Vira was born. Too bad social security numbers didnt come around until after the great depression. ;) thanks for the info. That gives me a new place to focus my search. Ill let you know what I find out. -Johnathan Clayborn

    1. Re: [SELLERS] Genealogy Help...proving a theory/DANIEL LEE SELLERS 1894 AL/re...
    2. Okay, I Believe I have it sorted out now. I just need to find the few records that Proves this: (partially extracted from here:http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/h/u/d/Edwin-C-Hudson-GA/GENE11-0008.html__ Sellers Family) Joel Sellers and Rebecca (unkn) Sellers (Brunswick Co NC) Had: 1. Daniel W. Sellers b. 1832, Brunswick Co, NC. Married SUSAN R. THARP. (1857, Brunswick Co, NC). 2. Amos Sellers b. abt 1833 3. Matilda Sellers b abt 1836 4. George W. Sellers b. abt. 1839 5. Alva Sellers b. abt 1840 6. James Calvin Sellers. b. abt. 1846 Now, This researcher has a death date of Aug 26, 1868 for Daniel W. listed on his site, but no additional information on this particular family. HOWEVER, in 1870, Bladen Co, NC we have: D.W. SELLERS, 38M W NC, CARVERS CRK , PAGE 383, FARMER SUSAN? 36F NC W FANNY B. 15F NC ADDIE 12F NC W. L/S 10M NC T. D. 8F NC M. 6F NC J.C? 7/12 M NC This is quite obviously the SAME Daniel W. Sellers, son of Joel who married Susan R. Tharp in Brunswick Co, NC. But now the family has been placed in Bladen Co, NC 2 years after his death. This leads me to believe that herhaps the death date was mixed up with another Daniel W. the chances of TWO Daniel W. Sellers Both being born abt. 1831 in NC and BOTH marrying Susan R.'s are almost a million to 1. now that we know that Joel's son Daniel WAS alive in 1870, we can now continue on. in 1880 we have this: 1880 Wash Co. AL= District 181, Beat 4, Washington, Alabama Source: FHL Film 1254034 National Archives Film T9-0034 Page 142D D. W. SELLERS Self M 49 NC Fa: NC Mo: NC Susan R. SELLERS Son M 9 NC Fa: NC Mo: NC Jeneva SELLERS Dau F 7 NC Fa: NC Mo: NC J. RUSSELL Other M 20 AL Fa: VA Mo: VA (this is probably a boarder or a farmhand, the latter being more likely, esp since he was of african-american origin) This is Obviously the same as the 1870 Bladen Co, NC family. (which is obviously the same as the Daniel W, son of Joel.) Some of the ages dont seem to match up quite right, but the names of the children, and the age difference between them is still the same. 1900 WASH CO, AL, 10 PREC DEER PARK S. R. SELLERS 53F NC, , M 35, 6/6 BOTH PARENTS BORN NC,page (Jen)EVA 26 NC, M 7, 1/1, BOARDER, BOTH PARENTS NC (I believe this Jenevea) LES/LEO/LEE? 4M AL, GRANDSON crossed out and BOARDER written above, dad ms/mom nc This is Susan, living with her daughter (jen)Eva, apparently Divorced from Daniel W by this time as between 1894-1898 Daniel W has 3 children with a woman from AL. : 1910 AL Census: Washington Co, Precint 11 Daniel W. Sellers 79. NC f. NC m. NC Famer Self Daniel L. Sellers. 16. AL f.NC m. AL Laborer Son Amos sellers 14 AL f. NC m. AL None Son Vira (?) Sellers 12 AL f. NC m. AL None Daughter And that seems to be the connection to my wife's line. So, I still stand by what I have said about our Daniel W. in AL being the son of Joel, however, I was a little off in the steps I took to get there. Mari has helped calrify this immensely. This logic seems to fit almost to a T. Can anyone think of anything that might disprove this? (aside from the lack of actual documentation). My wife is working on getting her great-grandfather's obit from her great-aunt, so that might help. The two main questions I see at this point are: 1. who did Daniel W marry between 1880-1894? and what happened to her between 1898-1900? Did she die, or did she too divorce him? The fact that the 1910 Daniel W. Sellers had a son named AMOS, and a wife named Susan R. fits with Joel's son who had a borther named Amos and a wife name Susan R. Tharp. This has been quite an interesting piece of deductive reasoning, and quite a mess. But hey, its fun. ;) I will continue to search for the records to back this up, now that I know exactly what I am looking for, but I am now 100% positive that this is correct.

Didama Sellers Fry married James Warren Brown Sept 8 1897 in Harrison Co Iowa. James was born 1855 in Hales, Norfolk England, son of Thomas Brown and Harriet Warren. He left England abt 1871 and as near as we can tell, he settled shortly after that in Iowa - exact date unknown at this point. James first married Martha E (Mattie) Poor bef 1890. Mattie died Jan 1891, leaving behind James Warren and their son Alfred Edmand. James and Didama were married as I mentioned in 1897. James had lived in Pottawottami Co Iowa and one point, then moved up to Harrison Co. By 1913, James Warren and Didama had moved to Canada, to the area around Ninette Manitoba. James' father died in 1913. James and Didama lived a long time in this area and James died in 1940 and is buried in the Ninette Cemetery. Some time after James' death, Didama returned to Harrison Co to be close to her daughter May Condron and she died there in 1958. James' son, Alfred married Didama's youngest daughter Lila Dollie in Nov 1911 (location u/k). Talk about joining the families into yours, mine and ours! Alfred and Lila had 3 children - Evelyn, William and James. This line of the family, as far as I know, lived in Iowa. James Warren Brown is the oldest brother of my ggrandmother, Martha Brown McKellar. If anyone would like further details, please feel free to contact me. regards, Colleen Lill Canada

Marie, btw its JohnathAn. I had thought that I had explained the family in some detail, but here's a chart, since I guess some people had difficulty folowing that in thier head. Going from Present Day BACKWARDS: Generation 3: Daniel Webster Sellers. b. Dec 25, 1919., Chatham Co, AL. m. Vaunciel Montez Goree b. May 31, 1923, Glenmora, Grant Parish, LA. This is my wife's Paternal grandparents, and the information comes from the Family Bible, so I take it to be accurate. Generation 4: Daniel Lee Sellers. b. Feb 26, 1894, AL (Maybe Washington Co?) m. Ada Maude Augusta Bailey, b. 1893, AL. They had 11 Children. Factual parentage is proven through the Obituary of Daniel Webster, My wife's father (as this was his grandfather), and the 1920 Choctaw Co, AL Census: 1920 Choctaw County, Alabama, Precinct 14: Daniel L. Sellers, head, M, W, 25, M, AL, NC, AL, foreman RR Ada M. Sellers, wife, F, W, 28, AL, AL, AL Luise B. Sellers, daughter, F, W, 1 2/12, AL, AL, AL DANIEL W. Sellers, son, M, W, 1/12, AL, AL, AL Now, you MAY NOTE that Daniel Lee's Job was a RAILROAD FOREMAN, and as such he was in the Wilderness A LOT and as such he is NOT ALWAYS in the census records. I have not been able to find him in the 1930 Census. Generation 5: (this is where the question comes into play) DANIEL W. Sellers b. abt 1831, NC (according to Census Data) m. Unknown. (-?-) b. abt 1840, AL. Census Data: 1910 AL Census: Washington Co, Precint 11 DANIEL W. Sellers 79. NC f. NC m.NC Famer SELF DANIEL L. Sellers. 16. AL f.NC m. AL Laborer SON Amos sellers 14 AL f. NC m. AL None Son Vira (?) Sellers 12 AL f. NC m. AL None Daughter There, it is very clearly outlined in Black and white, that DANIEL LEE Sellers is the SON of DANIEL W. Sellers b. abt 1831 in NC. This is the exact point that I loose track of the family for certain. I dont know when they arrived in AL, but it would certainly have to be some time before 1894, since thats when Daniel Lee was born, and he was born IN AL as the Census tells us. We ALL KNOW that the 1890 Census was destroyed in a fire in DC, so that doesnt do me any good because that is the NEXT step I would need to take, So I have to make a GUESS and search the 1880 Census. Which I did. I came up with this PROBABLE MATCH: 1870 NC Census: Johnston Co: #175/168 DANIEL Sellers, Head, 39 Farmer & St??? $1000(value of farm) Sarah A. Sellers 30 Keeping House George W. Sellers 15 @ school Nancy A Sellers, 13 @ school Mary W. Sellers 11 @ School John ? Sellers 6 @ School Lour??da Sellers (f) 4 Sallie Sellers 21 (Relation not listed) This Daniel's Birthplace Matches, as does his year of birth, abt 1831. There are no children living in the house in 1910 that are also listed in 1880. That rules out a clear connection. Even still there can't be a whole helluva lot of Daniel W. Sellers b. abt 1831 in NC running around. Maybe a half-dozen at best. So I did some further searching and came up with THIS data listed on another Genealogists page: Children of Joel Sellers and Rebecca Unknown are: 173 i. DANIEL W. Sellers, born 1832 in Brunswick County, North Carolina; died April 26, 1868 in Brunswick County, North Carolina. He married Susan R. Tharp November 13, 1857 in Brunswick County, North Carolina; born Aft. 1831 in North Carolina. Notes for Daniel W. Sellers: Daniel Sellers served during the Civil War in either the 20th or 55th Regiment, North Carolina Infantry, CSA. From the date of his death, he may have died from Civil War induced injury or illness. 174 ii. AMOS Sellers, born Abt. 1833. Notes for Amos Sellers: Amos Sellers served during the Civil War in the 3rd Regiment, North Carolina Infantry, CSA. 175 iii. Matilda Sellers, born Abt. 1836. 176 iv. GEORGE W. Sellers, born Abt. 1839. Notes for George W. Sellers: G. W. Sellers served during the Civil War in the 20th Regiment, North Carolina Infantry, CSA. He was captured and imprisoned at Ft. McHenry July 18, 1863. 177 v. Alva Sellers, born 1840. Notes for Alva Sellers: Alva Sellers served during the Civil War in the 18th Regiment, North Carolina Infantry, CSA. 178 vi. James Calvin Sellers, born 1846 in South Carolina. He married Mary J. Unknown Aft. 1866; born 1856 in South Carolina. Notes for James Calvin Sellers: James C. Sellers served during the Civil War in McDugald's Company, North Carolina, CSA. ***************************************** Now, getting back to my data, I KNOW that MY DANIEL W. had a son named AMOS, because it appears on the 1910 Census. And IF I am correct and the 1880 Census Daniel is indeed the same as the one listed in the 1910 Census, then he ALSO had a son named GEORGE W. In WHICH CASE, There is a HIGH PROBABILITY that THE ABOVE Daniel W. and MY Daniel W are indeed the same as we can see from the preceeding data that he had a BROTHER named GEORGE W and another BROTHER named AMOS (which match the name of his Children). Now, getting back to your statements, Yes, my Wife does have a copy of her granfather's obit, no I cannot send a copy or an excerpt at this time, as it is packed away in storage. How does Bladen Co come into play? I never mentioned it. Do you have information on another Daniel W who was born in (or abt) 1831 in NC? I have done Genealogy for quite a while now. The problem is that I cant get easy access to the Court, land, probates or wills in that area as I live in AZ. I dont have $20 a piece to mail off for the certs. either. So, I go with what I KNOW. and I DO KNOW from the census records that I AM LOOKING FOR a DANIEL W. SELLERS b. abt 1831/1832 in NC. I am HOPING that SOMEONE on here will have some data to HELP me with my search, but if not, then thats okay, Ill do it the long way. There CANNOT be more than a Dozen DANIEL W. Sellers b. abt. 1831/32 in NC at once. So, I can go through the ones that I find and systematically DISPROVE them to be MY DANIEL, then, through process of elimination, I will eventually find mine. I very seriously doubt that there are more than three or four born in that time frame, in that state, with that same name and middle initial. If anyone can assist, it would be MOST appreciated. JOHNATHON, thanks. WE need a small chart = Daniel Lee 1894AL - WHEN/WHERE died?= married when/where/whom = and names of their kids and when/where born. = YOU have Daniel Webster SELLERS 1919 obit? = please send copy or extractions of ALL info from same. it may tell where kids /relation lived. DANIEL L. SELLERS 1894 probably has an obit and cemetery and death certificate info, YOU/we Need info. OR any info on his wife or kids is important to help PROVE this family. MAKE a time chart on each child is good also. HAVE you found this family in 1900? SOMETIMES you need to check surrounding counties also for land/county changes. OTHERWISE, we can't prove him to a family in 1880 ! AND the D. W. SELLERS 1831 NC , here in 1880 appears to be a possibility to 1870 BLADEN CO, NC. DID you check for his civil war file? DID you check for 1890 Wash Co, CENSUS or other for CW SELLERS? Many of these counties have LookUp pages on usgenweb. Ancestry .com is free for two weeks. AND maybe, if we can put the county/state in the SUBJECT line of our Messages, one of our SELLERS will find us and help. SO,you must get somemore info/documents to PROVE these families. THANKS for sharing and Please understand my questions. marie, iowa -----

I've seen your your earlier postings on other sites and I think or hope that you might have be able to help me to connect to my GGG Grandfather Jacob Zeller [born in Pennsylvania between 1770-80 and died about 1848 in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, His will was dated 1848.
