Supposedly there were 3 brothers that came over from Scotland or England sometime probably before 1750 to America. These brothers were Robert Sr. of Burke County, NC, James T/Y Sellers of Chatham County, NC and a brother John who supposedly went to Pennsylvania and had a corn mill. Robert Sellers Jr., son of Robert Sr., is the one that went to Sellersburg, Indiana (He also had a son named Young Sellers). CAROL, thanks. just sharing info on all SELLERS. use your own spellings on the names. This info was from census takers going by sound and this film was Very faded, hard to read. the 8/3 was either married 8 or 3 yrs . the 1/1 = she had one child and it was still living. MARGIE was not shown as related, I did NOT note if she was a servant or boarder, sorry. But, the LA connection was interesting. There was a book on TX DOCTORS? Mont is my great grandfather. John and Mary Ann began farming in Medina Co. soon after Caven was born in MS. In about 1850 they were recorded in the Bexar Co. census. Then on to Frio Co., and in their latter years, Uvalde. They are buried in the Uvalde Cemetery. Mont married Helen Beatrice Thomas. They had 10 children: John Stanton b. 1866 in Zavala Co.; Ida Beatrice b. 1868 in Zavala; Lula b. 1869 in Zavala; Frederick b. 1871 in Zavala; Minnie b. 1873 in Zavala; Ross b. 1875 in Zavala; Etta b. 1879 in Zavala; Edwin b. 1883 in Zavala; Roy b. 1884 in Zavala; and Effie b. 1886 in Zavala. Edwin was my grandfather. Mont is noted in The Handbook of Texas On Line's Zavala County write up as one of the first settlers of the area. John Stanton married Celestine and Lula married Celestine's brother, J. Clemelle Sellers. My dad remembers seeing Mabel W. Woodward when she visited their mutual grandmother, Helen. She and Celestine came to Pearsall to visit. My dad was born in 1916, so he was much younger than Mabel. I notice you spelled Celestine's name as Clesstine and Clestinian. Since she is from your family, which one is correct--and I'll change my records. Are there any of Mabel's relatives living? Do you have any information on Lula and Dr. Clemelle's life and family? I do show that Lula died in 1894 in Spring, TX. Therefore, the 1900 census information you sent, shows that John remarried. It is hard to figure out her name. But sons, Mont and Fred, were sons of John & Lula; while Henry is probably of this marriage. Do you suppose the "Margie" is like a nanny? I don't understand the 8/3 and 1/1 figures. Can you explain them? My dad is 87 years old and is the only child of any of John Gilbert and Mary Ann's still living. We live in Southern California and have made recent visits to Pearsall, etc. Thank you for sending all the information. I'll be sure to look it over carefully! I might have to write back with a couple of more questions!! I note you are in Iowa. My mother's family is from Iowa and I have many relatives in Newhall, St. Ansgar, St. Olaf and the general area. Are you any where close? Let me know if you need any more information, I'll be glad to send it. John Stanton married Celestine in 1898 in Kingsville, TX. John and John Clemelle were roommates in college. I don't know where they attended school. Again, thanks for your prompt reply; I'm very excited about our meeting. I just figured out what happened. I hit the wrong button. I was going to forward this to my son. He helps me with the searches. I hit the reply button instead. I am so sorry. I feel about an inch high now. We do the "reply" a lot so we know what we are talking about. Sometimes it is hours later. Again, I am soooo sorry.
