Cletus Robertus A. Sellers was born March 7, 1866, to Daniel Sellers and Barbara C. KEPLINGER. Cletus was the 3rd of 9 children born to Daniel and Barbara. He died August 5, 1943, of a heart attack in What Cheer, Keokuk County, Iowa. Cletus married Mary Ellen KNUPP on September 18, 1887, in Rockingham County, VA. Mary was born February 28, 1866, to William KNUPP and Anna FRANK. Cletus and Mary had at least 12 children in Rockingham county prior to migrating to Pleasant Township in Mahaska County, Iowa at some point between 1902 and July 1905. Cletus and Mary were listed on the 1900 census living in the Plains District of Rockingham county, VA. Their 12th child, Zimmenia Lotrecia Sellers, was born in R'ham county on January 27, 1902. Their 13th child, Iowa Virginia Sellers, was born in Pleasant Township, Mahaska county, IA, on July 1, 1905. Their 14th and last known child, Zella Veneda Sellers, was born January 20, 1908, in Pleasant Township as well. Several of their children lived into the 1990s. Zella was the last surviving member when she died February 25, 2005, in Wright, Mahaska county, Iowa. The Jacob Bryan Sellers that was mentioned was the 8th child of Cletus Robertus A. Sellers and Mary Ellen KNUPP. Jacob was born March 17, 1897, in Rockingham county, VA, and died Dec. 16, 1983, in Delta, Keokuk county, IA. Cletus Sellers' lines extend back to Heinrich Zeller (Aug. 17, 1704 - ca 1773) in Rockingham county, VA. Cletus' father was Daniel Sellers (June 16, 1831 - Oct 1 1892). Cletus' grandfather was John Sellers (Oct 19, 1790 - Mar 2, 1867). William and his first wife (Barnes) married in Texas, after the divorce, his first wife's family (Barnes) moved to Sebastian or Logan County, Arkansas.     3. Marie, doubt this is helpful, but there were Barnes and Sellers in Sebastian or Logan County, Arkansas. In fact, my Fannie Sellers 's second marriage was to William Medlin, who's first wife was a Barnes. William and his first wife (Barnes) married in Texas, after the divorce, his first wife's family (Barnes) moved to Sebastian or Logan County, Arkansas. I think I still have the County in Texas where the Barnes were living written down somewhere. I believe David S. Sellers , Jan 13, 1884 or Jan 13, 1883 per his WW 1 file , you may be able to get parents from these also, but, not as good as an obit or death certificate. For some reason, these kids had middle names, etc, they don't appear to show up in the census info or Marriages. I didn't find Mary Frances Sellers in AL deaths, did you? OR maybe she didn't die in AL? YOU are going to have to get some documents to Prove this family. NO one has copies of obits, etc??? Thank YOu for sharing SELLERS. marie, iowa

    3. Hi Georgia, I'm not too sure Nathan Sellers is a likely candidate for this husband of Keturah Sellers. We know the she was born in 1803. 1817 would probably be a little too early for her to marry, though it is possible I guess. Considering she had children born about 1826 and 1828, I was thinking a little closer to about an 1823-25 marriage date assuming there were no other kids. Also, just supposing Keturah was married to a son of James Sellers the marriage date would be closer to 1823. The two eldest sons of James Sellers, according to census records, were born between 1805 and 1810. Absalom and the unknown son were the oldest and Daniel and Jackson were the youngest (assuming of course we know these are in fact the children). I looked through the Harrison records again and didn't really find anything. The marriage record of Catherine Sellers to David Leedy didn't show whether she was a widow or not or any other relations. I did see that George Mickleberry who married Elizabeth Sellers was a Reverend. Rev. Mickleberry was the minister for the marriage of Phoebe Sellers to Giles Nance. Also saw that Delilah Jane Mickleberry married Jesse Decker 13 Oct 1836 in Harrison Co., IN. She's may be the Delilah Jane Meek mentioned in Daniel B. Sellers' will. In looking at other posts online it appears that Elizabeth (Sellers) Mickleberry was still alive in 1828 since she and her husband George were mentioned in the estate record of Robert Mickleberry (George's father) in Shelby Co., TN. That would her death at about the 1828-1829 timeframe. Jim

    3. Thanks Georgia, I'm going to visit the library tomorrow and go through the Floyd and Harrison records again to see if there are any other Sellers probate records. I will also check the origianl marriage entry for Catherine (Keturah) Sellers marriage to David Leedy. I'm not sure where the Ransdell maiden name for Keturah comes from. I wonder if there is confusion in names between her and her daughter who married a Ransdell? I'd like to find Marquis de Lafayette Sellers's (son of Keturah) obituary or death certificate to see of it mentions his father's name too. The Mickleberry children are living next door to Daniel Leedy in 1850 Harrison County, Indiana. Doing a little research, Delilah Sellers Davis' daughter, Anna Logan, is actually Barbara Ann Davis Logan married to John Logan and they can be found in Henderson County, Illinois from 1850 through 1880.
