Hi all, Been lurking but haven't responded for awhile. The Sellers mentioned here are all cousins of mine, and they descended from the Heinrich Zeller line of Germany-Rockingham county, Virginia. James Thomas Sellers was the son of Charles Christian Sellers (Aug 10, 1831 - Mar 23, 1905) and Martha Griffin (Jan 24, 1835 - Aug 23 1907). Pearl Inez Sellers was James' daughter. She married Fred Elford (Alford?) Harshman Dec. 13, 1913. If I can be of help to anyone researching this line, please let me know. Hi Susan, I'm the one that posted the information about Capt. Hinkson's company of militia. I think the web site you saw had a typo. The name, I believe, should be "Hugh" Knose. The source of the militia list is from the Pennsylvania Archives, 6th Series, Vol II, pg 272. The date of the muster roll was about 1779, I don't think it had a specific date. I don't really know anything about Hugh Knose other than he is mentioned in the militia list. I'm related to the Lt. John Sellers also listed. He was the brother of my 5th great-grandfather. Hinkson and Sellers went to Kentucky in 1780 and lived there afterward. I don't know if you saw the full write up on Hinkson, but you can read more about Knose's captain here: _http://www.shawhan.com/hinkson.PDF_ (http://www.shawhan.com/hinkson.PDF) Do you know anything about this Hugh Knose? Is he an ancestor of yours? Thanks, Jim Sellars ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

I do have this census extract. Mary Merritt was Amariah's Grandmother, Daniel Merritt was his Grandfather, but I'm not sure if his mother the Merritt's daughter Ann or Jane. What was his father's name? Do you have any additional info? I looked at the 1840 Sampson County, North Carolina census and there is a James? Sellers which is indexed as Jane Sellers living next door to Daniel Merritt. This Daniel Merritt is 70 and under 80 years (1761-1770)of age with only a female 50 to 59 years of age . This James Sellers is 40 and under 50 (1791-1800) with a wife 30 and under 40 ( 1801-1810). They have 2 sons under age 5, 2 sons under 15, and 1 son 15 and under 20. There are many Merritts on this same page. Georgia
Dear Sellars Family: I found a cached article on the Internet posted by Jim Sellars regarding the unit lead by Capt. John Hinkson of the Pennsylvania Militia, 1st Battalion, Westmoreland County. I am trying to get more information regarding Private High Knose who was listed as a member of this unit. I am starting to do family research, and I can trace my family back into W. Pennsylvania. I live in Indianapolis, and my family came from W. Pennsylvania, through Ohio, especially the Cincinnati area. I would appreciate any help. I would especially like to know about the documents or sources of information that showed PVT Knose as a member of this unit. Thanks very much for any help! Susan Knose
