    3. GEORGIA, thanks. I think the Thompson info helps, but, I really have no other documents. Yes, I believe I have seen this chart and from memory was written by a gal that has done reliable research, but listed NO sources! And maybe there is Another chart on Mary Sellers of Burke Co., NC married a Thompson? I better reread/study. Thanks for helping. I have that James Sellers was born about 1792 in North Carolina and went to Tennessee. He married an Unknown Thompson and had the following children: Nathan Sellers, James Sellers, John Sellers, Ester Sellers and Minerva Sellers. It is interesting that Jane Thompson is the daughter of Nathan Thompson and James Sellers and Unknown Thompson named their first son, Nathan Sellers. Also he has an Ester Sellers and Nathan Thompson was married to Esther Black. The James Sellers of Lawrence County, TN in 1840 and 1850 ends up in Maury County, TN by 1860. Maury County, TN, is where most of the sons of James T/Y Sellers that died in Chatham County, NC circa 1805 ended up shortly after the death of James T/Y Sellers in Chatham County, NC. All of this is from early family history and I have been unable to trace this line. Could Ester Sellers be Ruth E. Sellers? 3. LINDA, thanks. Very helpful, as you have already checked ages, etc. I did NOT find another pension file listed, except the notation below. (usually you do) Have you tried to order one? I would try NARA, but, its possible NC archives would have, but, I think that is where it was NOT listed?? You rec'd a lot of good info today, I hope it helps all of us by sharing. Will study and If I see anything, will advise. Thanks for sharing SELLERS. marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of linda peacock Sent: Sunday, May 27, 2007 4:51 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [SELLERS]Margaret Minerva Sellers of Sellers Family from NC, TN & MS, with a brief period in MO - update - Jane Thompson was MM Sellers´s mother Marie, Thank you. That is the same Nathan Thompson but I have not found a pension file. I have all of the children and almost all of the marriages (but not Jane´s marriage!) from the Buchanan bible records. Nathan Thompson md. Esther Black in Lincoln Co. NC 19 Aug 1785, bondsman William Killen = Killian, minister John Moore In 1800 Nathan Thompson was in Rutherford NC - there are 2 Nathan Thompsons in Rutherford NC in 1800: one has family 2-1-3 and one has family 1-1-3 (this would be the family) In 1810 Nathan Thompson was in Buncombe NC In 1810 Nathan Thomson was in Haywood NC In 1820 there is a Nathan Thomson in Robeson NC but I don´t think that is may Nathan In 1830 Nathan Thompson is in Haywood NC In 1840 Nathan is in Macon NC Do you want names of all of the children and their spouses? Now that James Sellers living in the same neighbourhood as Nathan Thompson in 1830 looks very interesting! I am not sure of the exact date of birth of Margaret Minerva Sellers - in the censuses her age variation would indicate that she was b. 1824-1828. If she was b. 1824 the data would fit. The boy under age 5 would be brother John W Sellers and there was another boy age 5-10 (I don´t know of other siblings but have always considered that possible). The ages of James and his wife would fit. So that looks like a great possibility. I have not been able to find a family that fits in the 1840 census, neither in NC or TN. I also looked in MO and MS. Rute E. Sellers was b. 27 Sep 1839 in Rutherford Co. NC. In 1850, Jane is alone. It is possible that Mr. Sellers died before the 1840 census and Jane was living with a relative? Thank you so much! I think we need to find out more about this James Sellers. 3. Very nice work again Charmaine! I did not have this marriage bond info, but what you have found fits what I have. Plus you have found more, that Jesse Thompson md. Rachel Welch. I don´t have a James Thompson. I have no idea who Henry Rader was. To you, and to any and all here, I can provide copies of what is known about the Nathan Thompson family, bible records and extended family records if you are interested (these are JPEG files and fairly large, unfortunately). I am going to go ahead and list what I know about the Children of Nathan Thompson and Esther Black and their marriages, data combined from refs. 1 & 2)and in an abbreviated version as a number of generations are included in the refs.: 1) Elizabeth (b. 23 Feb 1786, Lincoln Co. NC and d. Aft 1870, Macon Co. NC), md. 23 Jul 1831, Macon Co. NC, Uriah "Ute" Sherrill (b. ca. 1754, NC; d. 1838, NC). Uriah was son of Samuel, Sr. and Mary Preston? There were no children by this marriage. (I (LP) think that Uriah had children by a previous marriage, as there was a Uriah Sherrill in Coffee Co. TN). 2) Mary "Polly" D. (b. 18 Dec 1787; d. 10 Apr 1832, Haywood Co. NC) md. 11 Aug 1820, Haywood Co., NC, Alexander Crisp (b. 1797; d. 1870, Cherokee Co. NC). Alexander Crisp was son of Bray Crisp. They had 3 children all b. Haywood Co. NC: Rachel b. 1826 md. William McConnell: Nathan b. 1826 md. Jane Crisp and Miller b. 1829 md. Nancy Crisp. And yes, Nathan and Jane did marry spouses named Crisp. 3) Samuel (b. 15 Mar 1790, Rutherford Co. NC) 4) Thomas (b. 6 May 1792, Rutherford Co. NC). And this is not in the refs. But it is correct that he md. Nancy Enloe. 5) Nathan Byers (b. 26 Feb 1795, Rutherford Co. NC) md. ? and children ? Ref. 2 says there was one son, William B. Thompson who md. a Jane UNK. 6) Jane (b. 24 Apr 1797, Rutherford Co. NC) - is my Jane Thompson who md. an UNK Sellers 7) Esther Eliza (b. 15 Mar 1800, Buncombe Co. NC; d. 1863, Swain Co. NC) md. 20 Nov 1823, Haywood Co. NC, Joel Alexander Sawyer (b- 1800 Greenville SC and d. 13 Jan 1866 Swain Co. NC). Joel Sawyer was son of William, Sr. and Elizabeth Crisp. They had 10 children: William Hamilton b. 8 Aug 1824 Haywood NC md. Elizabeth Jane Welch; Sarah A. "Sally" b. 25 Feb 1826 Haywood Co NC md. Adolphus Burton Welch; Esther Eliza b. 1829 md. Joel (Joseph) Rose; Rutha Melvina b. 13 Apr 1830, Macon Co NC md. Phillip Marcus Chambers; John Love b. 29 May 1833 Macon Co. NC md. 1) Louisa Welch & 2) Nancy E. Margaret Jane "Peggy" Stillwell; Samuel B. "Solomon" b. 1843 never md.; James Lovel b. 9 Mar 1848, Macon Co. NC md. Roxanna "Roxie" Paralee Ashe. 8) Ruth Richardson (b. 6 Oct 1802, Buncombe Co. NC; d. 15 Jun 1872 NC) md. 26 Jan 1832 Joseph Buchanan (1794-1880). Joseph Buchanan was son of James and Martha Black (Martha was sister of Esther Black). They had 8 children: Nathan b. 7 Jan 1833 md. Martha Ann Dills; James b. 15 Jun 1836 md. There are several marriages listed in Haywood and Macon Co., NC for Thompsons who fit the bill to be children of Nathan Thompson. I haven't worked this Thompson connection to a great degree in connection with a number of the other families who moved from Burke/Rutherford and are found living near each other, intermarrying. Haywood Co., NC marriage bonds: 7 Jan. 1815 Thomas Thompson and Nancy Enloe - bondsman: Asaph Enloe (this is the "Sersop" Enloe who is listed 2 households from Nathan Thompson and next to James Sellers on the 1830 Haywood Co., NC census) 11 Aug 1820 Polly [Mary] Thompson and Alexander Crisp bondsman; Jacob Shuler (note Shuler's are neighbors of Nathan Thompson in 1830 Haywood and 1840 Macon Co., NC) 20 Nov 1823 Esther Thompson and Joel Sawyer bondsman: Alexander ? - think this is Alexander Crisp. You mention this marriage - interesting side here, one son of this marriage, Nathan Thompson Sawyer married a daughter of William Cathey. William Cathey followed the same basic migratory route. He was the son of George Cathey, Jr. George Cathey, Jr and his family were in Burke Co., NC 1790, moved into Buncombe 1800 (area which became Haywood in 1808, then into Haywood. William Cathey moved into Macon Co.) 30 Jan 1824 James Thompson and Betsy Wilkins 25 Feb. 1825 Jesse Thompson and Rachel Welch bondsman: Nathan Thompson Macon Co., NC marriage bonds: 3 Jul 1831 Elizabeth Thompson and Ute Sherrel bondsman: Andrew Welch (note that Jesse Thompson had married a Rachel Welch in Haywood in 1825). This is Nathan's daughter who appears living in his household in 1840 Macon Co., NC - Elizabeth Sherrill age 64 born Lincoln Co., NC. Any idea who the 14 year old Henry Rader, born Burke Co., NC is in this household in 1840 Macon Co., NC. Is it possibly a grandson? No listing for a Thompson (sometimes also spelled Thomasson) and Sellers marraige in either county, not Burke or Rutherford counties either. Possibly the marriage took place in Buncombe Co (Buncombe still hasn't any marriage bond records available on line, and Buncombe still hasn't published any source material) Or, the bond was damaged or destroyed and didn't survive. Or was by bann instead of bond. 3. SEAN, you have been subscribed to SELLERS, so all just need to reply to this message. WE /YOU need an obit /death certificate on Wesley K. Sellers 1861/1920, probably White Co., AR Send Copy of Bible Page and will try and connect/prove same to census? They should match with WW1 files on his brothers??? Will help where we can. Thanks for sharing SELLERS. marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: Sean Taplin [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, May 11, 2007 9:38 PM To: marie sellers hollinger Subject: Re: [SELLERS] Sellers Information/WHITE CO, ARKANSAS Thank you and everyone else for the information. I have an obit for my greatgrandfather Addison, but all it says is his father was W.K. Sellers. I have seen the 1910 census, but I couldn't find them in any other census records, but that was awhile back. I have the family bible pages with his brothers and sisters names but the names don't exactly match with any of the census stuff or the obit. I think sometimes they went by their middle names and later went back to using their first names. All the bible has is Wesley K. Sellers and wife Dora. Can I subscribe to the mailing list? 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: j_yellott Surnames: Sellers, Butler, McGee Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.sellers/2227/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have been reading some old posts about this family and thought I would put this info on this list. My husband is descended from the M.K Sellers on the 1840-50 Newton Co. census ,the 1860 Copiah Co. Ms census and the 1870 St.Landry Parish census his name is Mathew Kindrick Sellers born 1816-18.Near him on the census was Mary Sellers and A.S.Sellers age 15-20.Mary ,I believe moved from Simpson Co Ms to Newton.I recently saw in an old account book of James Ellis who owned a boarding ,stable store ect 1838 entries for M.K ,Allen and Sid Sellers I think there was a James E. Sellers as in the 1870 Williamson Co Tx a Benjamin Sellers age 22 is listed in his household.I think there is a connection between all these Sellers .Mary is sill in Newton Co in 1860 with daughters Clarissa,Melissa and Adeline missing is Amanda and Eliza .I would be interested if anyone has any connection to these Sellers.
