Good Day, I have like some before me created a Facebook group as another genealogy tool. I have posted this to my Facebook friends and now to the two mail lists I administer. If you are on Facebook, I invite you to join by going to Facebook and searching for the "Ware Gen Crowdsourcing" group. The scope is Ware and surrounding counties. Below I have included the group description: "This is a Crowdsourcing Group for Ware County Georgia and the surrounding counties of Atkinson, Bacon, Brantley, Charleton, Clinch, Coffee and Pierce in Georgia. What crowd sourcing means is that you are the source. This is meant as an additional tool in your genealogical arsenal not a replacement of any existing tools. You are invited to post your brick wall here in the hope of help. Be specific. Post your request with relevant dates and helpful facts and ask specific questions in your request for help. And when replying please site your source, even if it's hut " mom told me". Happy hunting. Happy sharing!" Regards, Kati Smith kati.smith@hotmail.com @cowford on Twitter
Good Day All, I've not had the opportunity to investigate these sites yet. Afternoon All, I've had a request from a gentleman looking for his great grandfather from Manor. William Thomas James. He hasn't provided any other details at this point and I don't know his age. I've sent a request to him for details but thought I'd start with you all. Do you have any James lines? Any James' that might have been in Manor? Good Morning,My Hotmail Acct was hacked. My password is now changed. If you received any links from me in the passed 24 hours do not click just delete. It's seems to have piggybacked off a service I have which I had heard on the news last night had been hacked. Regards,Kati

Good Morning Everyone, Well that was interesting. Hotmail seems to be having issues. Re sending via my BB, which still goes thru Hotmail so we'll see how this goes. And that was supposed to be fold3 not fold2. That was my error. Ancestry.com is allowing a free search of the 13 colonies. Today is the last day. I haven't tried it, so don't yet know what's there. Also on Ancestry, is the 1040 Census. It's currently free but they have made navigation difficult. I have found multiple records there. There is an on going project which includes Ancestry and FamilySearch.org (and many others). I expect it will be free until the indexing is completed then not much after. Ware County and Pierce County were not that hard for me to search because I am somewhat familiar with the militia districts. But Jacksonville for instance was difficult because I did not know the precincts. FamilySearch.org as most of you know has a free searchable database, but for images now they often refer you to entities that charge to get them. Still it's a great place to start and they do have many images that they previously had still online. It's a treasure chest for most. Also I found that as indexing is completed for the 1940 Census they seem to be on top of it. I have gone to familysearch.org looked up a person who I know to reside in Jacksonville in 1940, then gone to Ancestry.com and having found the precinct on familysearch.org and been able to find them. Fold3.com houses images of military records. I have personally found some there. They charge to print them. But in celebration of the 4th, they have Revolution war records available for free until 15July. On the home page there is a flashing add, just wait until it comes around. Georgia Virtual Vault http://cdm.sos.state.ga.us/ has a searchable data base as well. I have downloaded images from there. It's a little tricky, but if you get it once, then you've got it. And last but not least. Billiongraves.com is new. There is not much there, but familysearch.org along with others see their potential and are working with them. If you have an iPhone or an Android with a camera you can help. The idea is to photograph the stone, then upload and transcribe it and make it available on a searchable database. I hope yesterday's issue with the link doesn't discourage anyone from trying trusted links. And I'd encourage you to share good ones and your experience there. If you find any of these links helpful, share! Happy Hunting!Kati ~~Kati Smith kati.smith@hotmail.com Family Genealogy http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~elverspeak/ Cedar and Sage Blog http://cedarandsage.wordpress.com/ Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
