The "Patriot" side records are kept by state and often county of confiscation. The "Loyalist" records came about because of King George wanting testimony from Loyalists before he would authorize reimbursement and transportation to the "New Land". A Loyalist web site is at: http://www.magma.ca/~ekipp/ueltalk/ueltalk.htm The United Empire Loyalists web page is located at: http://www.sjfn.nb.ca/community_hall/u/unit7054.html There are a LOT of books, for example: http://www.gov.on.ca/MBS/english/its_ontario/gall/way.html Some Ontario, Canada sites are listed at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ote/indexon.htm If you Stevenson lived in New York County you can search the NY State Library System at: http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/ The Library of Congress also has a broader based collection which can be searched at: http://lcweb2.loc.gov/resdev/ess/ The Mormon Church Family History Center has opened up an experimental search site that may also be helpful. It isn't always working but when it is you can get the number of the microfilm that would have the books you are looking for. http://www.familysearch.org/default.asp Major University and State Libraries also have large genealogical collections that might have the volumes that you are looking for. There was a web site for United Empire Loyalists that listed much of the information you may be seeking. Unfortuantely the Loyalist confiscated property page has been moved and I can no longer find it. There is a commercial Canadian Genealogical web site at: http://www.ingeneas.com/ A good list of New York State Genealogical Research sites is at: http://www.rootsweb.com/roots-l/USA/ny.html and several in Ontario that are free. New Brunswick and Novia Scotia Libraries had some sites but they also have moved so my links are now coming up dead. Do a web search on "LOYALISTS" using several of the web search engines and you should turn up someting to get you started. http://www.yahoo.com/ http://www.lycos.com/cgi-bin/pursuit?query=Loyalists&cat=lycos&matchmode=and &first=11 http://www.huroned.edu.on.ca/BrookSidePS/loyaljv2.htm Please let us know what you turn up!
