Every time I look at it I find someone of interest and I regret returning the ones I did. Here are the numbers if you want to read them: Minutes of Morris County New Jersey Court of Common Pleas, Vol 1 1740-1754, Salt Lake's #0961259; vols. 2-3 1754-1766 #0961299; vols 4-6 1766-1778 #0961249; vol 7-? 1778-1792 #0961250. 1766-1778 I still have. (These were filmed in 1974.) Cost is $3.75 a film to rent. I discarded the one after 1778 because Willets didn't appear on the Morris county tax ratables after 1787 and I thought he might have left Morristown. There were no other Seamans that I found on the Morris County tax ratables 1778-1822. I've narrowed down the Morristown Seamans' sojourn to 1772-1787 so far. Not bad for a State that has the reputation of burning marriage records over 20 years old, huh!? See Stryker-Rodda's book "Digging for Ancestors in the Garden State" for that tidbit. In re: the Pilgrim Edward Doty Family: they were featured in this month's Mayflower Quarterly. For more about them write to Mary Lee Merrill, 514 Martin Point Road, Friendship, ME04547-4343. They admit anyone interested in Doughty, Doty, Dotte, Dotey, any other variation on the name. Not Dougherty with an r. Stay tuned.
