    1. [SEAMAN-L] Wilbert Seaman
    2. Marilyn Steber
    3. Terry: There simply was no "Wilbert". What there was was a mistake in an abstracted copy of the old Registry of Death record in Roane County, West Virginia. When dealing with abstracts, as you can see from the above e-mail, you can expect a little truth and a little human error. The point is that genealogists have to keep in mind is that filmed original records are more reliable than abstracts. Unfortunately, we don't have that luxury in regard to the father of David Seaman of West Virginia. The rule of English Naming Patterns would suggest that David of WV would name one of his sons Willet after his own father and he did. Marilyn Researching: Sparks of KY; Potter of NY; Oppenborn of FL; Tuphorn of Wisconsin; and Seaman of NJ. ---- Marilyn Steber 4464 Castelar Street #104 San Diego, California.
