"Cherrywood" was the ancestral home of the family of Capt. John Seaman of Hempstead. This is at the site he called "Jerusalem" where he settled when he moved away from Hempstead proper. It looks a little different these days..... in fact, I am sure that Capt. John would turn over in his grave if he sees what has happened to his beloved farm. The picture I took is at the corner of Jerusalem Ave. and Wantagh Ave. in North Wantagh, NY. At least the name "Cherrywood" has been preserved as the name of the shopping center.
