Listers: It is my experience that Seaman was sometimes written Simmons in Morris County, New Jersey. Willets Seaman's name was written several ways on the Tax Ratables from 1784-1787 for instance. On the Morris County, New Jersey list (www.rootsweb.com/~njmorris/bom/bill-s.htm) there is a Bill of Mortality showing the death of a child of Willits Simmons in Sept. 1777. Just below that is "Elizabeth Simmons, 23 October, 1781. wife of Capt. Jonas Simmons". Was Jonas Simmons actually a Seaman, and if so, who was he? M. Steber San Diego

She is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Brookline with my greatgrandfather, Elias Boudinot Conover, and his wife, Catherine Sinclair Conover. Elias Conover was born in 1818 in New Jersey, possibly in or near Ramapo. He is rumored to be an American Indian and various census listed him as Black, Mullato, or White. Louise Conover Seaman was his daughter. Louise Seaman and Emma Conover Dwyer owned adjacent lots in North Hempstead, Long Island, in 1914. I believe they were sisters.

John Seaman (c.1610-1695) had sixteen children and almost all of his children had large families. Multiplying those 16 out over almost 400 years results in a very large number of descendants. (My own database has over 25,000 Seaman descendants and related families.) When you are requesting help from someone, save yourself (and them) time by giving the name of the person you are working on and as much information as you can about him/her (birth date, death date, places of residence, any information about other family members, etc.) You are much more likely to get a positive response.

I don't have any dates for Julia so I don't know where she fits into the listing of the six children of William and Catherine: Pliney E., Sherrod, Benson (Benjamin), George Washington, Henry E., and Julia Jane. I am very interested in learning more about the Burnet children and I have quite a bit about William Christopher's background that I am willing to share.

I am told their relationship was not the best. I would like to put the puzzle together, if I could. Anyone help would be wonderful. Thank you.
