    3. From "Makers of the Nation: Captain John Seaman as Statesman and one of the founders of the Republic and Public careers of some of his Descendants" by Ferdinand Seeger, M. D. 1909, p. 6: "John de Seman of the first crusade is mentioned in the list of Knight Crusaders in de Joinville's Chronicles of the Crusaders. "John Seman of the English contingent of the first crusade in Feyerabend's Chronicles of the Crusaders. Also in Fuller's Historic of the Holie Wars." (I took the liberty of adding appropriate punctuation and eliminating the capitalization of random words which make reading difficult and in netiquette signifies shouting.) I have never seen any of the source materials Seeger mentions but I have seen the Carman website. I recommend it highly to anyone who wants to get a better understanding of the English conditions in the 16th century. See especially the page on martyrs. It can be found at http://www.carman.net/ Carolyn M. That way we could see if we could connect his family to the rest of the Long Island SEAMAN database.

    3. A reminder: We all generally just "reply" to whatever message is on the screen, since that is how we normally communicate on this List. However, it's important to realize that SOME of the messages are "gatewayed" to us from the corresponding surname Message Board. We receive the benefit of seeing messages posted about this surname, without needing to visit the web page. Some -- perhaps many -- of those who post messages there are NOT subscribers to this List. What we need to remember, then, is that if we want to be certain our message reaches the original poster, we must click on the link provided in the message that comes to the List. That will take us to the Message Board where the original message resides. At that point, we will be able to "reply" to the message, so that it "threads" itself into that series, and also it will be gatewayed to the List, thus coming back to us here.

    1. [SEAMAN-L] FINAL LETTER Re: Potter's Field is located on the NJ Turnpike
    2. MarysAerie
    3. Hello again, Cheri/ List: This is the final information from the NJ DOT counsel, Mr. Journick, and my response to him. Some one now needs to call Mr. Michael Dermody at the Office of the County Counsel for Hudson County. Is there some one in the 201 Area Code that make the call to Mr Dermody? I am in upstate NY. Mary Sayman Dear Messr. Journick: Thank you very much for the information. I appreciate the time you took to respond. I am sure some one will contact Mr. Dermody at the Office of the County Counsel. Sincerely, Mary Sayman Ms. Sayman: I am the attorney for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and responsible for handling the Authority's application to the Court for an Order permitting the Authority to proceed with the disinterment of burials in a Former Burial Ground located in Secaucus, NJ near Laurel Hill (also known as Snake Hill). The Former Burial Ground is one of three burial grounds in the area, but the only one affected by the Authority's Secaucus Interchange Project. I have searched the burial records obtained by the Authority from Hudson County for the name William Seaman. These records do not distinguish between the three burial grounds, except that based upon historic maps of the Former Burial Ground, we believe that the Former Burial Ground was not used for burials prior to 1920. The burial records reflect that William Seaman was buried on April 21, 1885. Based upon the date of burial, we believe that William Seman was not buried in the Former Burial Ground, but in one of the other two burial grounds in the area which will not be affected by the Authority's project. Other than date of burial, the burial records give no other information regarding William Seaman, such as date of birth, parents' names or residence address. The Authority does not have any other records that could provide such information. I am aware that other persons have obtained additional information, such as death certificates, concerning persons listed in the burial records with the assistance of the Office of the County Counsel of Hudson County. Should you wish to contact this office, I suggest you contact Michael L. Dermody, First Assistant County Counsel, at 201/795-6250. Mr. Dermody's address is Administration Building Annex, 567 Pavonia Avenue, Jersey Ciity, NJ 07306. Mr. Dermody has knowledge concerning the Former Burial Ground. If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Francis X. Journick, Jr., Esq. Wilentz Goldman & Spitzer, P.A. 90 Woodbridge Center Drive P.O.
