For those of us with Pennsylvania roots, there is a new site at the following url: http://digital.library.pitt.edu/pittsburgh/index.html Here I found a full text copy of the Genealogical and Personal History of Western Pennsylvania by John W. Jordan which gave an extensive biography of the early descendants of Johan Ludwig Seeman. It has lots of names and interesting data about this family. (The index is in vol 3 and I needed to view the page at 25% in order to get a size I could print out--you'll see what I mean when you look at the page.) Even if you trace your lines back to another Seaman family, it's worth looking at this source just to eliminate some of all those John Seamans! Now I'm off to look at this site for my Pennsylvania families. Have fun. Carolyn Mussina Seaman <ber00163@berk.com>
Listers: A friend sent me a reference to the men who were in Lexington Fort in 1781. On the list is the name of Charles Seaman, the earliest one I've heard of in that area. The next early one was John and Martha Seaman who were living in Hamilton County, Ohio in 1803 and sold their land to Jonah and William Seaman of Berkeley County, (W) Va. in a deed recorded in Monongalia County (W) Va. Is anyone researching this Charles? Marilyn in San Diego
