There is also a mention of Cornelius Seaman in the same records, in 1752 when he registers an Earmark. Later deeds mention land that was "formerly owned by Cornelius Seaman in Kakiat (then Orange County, NY). I had seen mention where it was thought that he was the son of Joseph Seaman and Aeltje Kuyper and that there was some type of record in Tappan to support that. Firstly, it appears O'Dell is a strange case of name confusion. It's actually Odell and is English, in lieu of Irish, onomastically. The info I have on the family is mostly from Ancestry trees so sketchy at best, but does match what was provided above. I'm descended from their son Isaac. I have Elizabeth born in Tappan, Orange, NY and passing away in Rockland County, NY. Her parents may be Jacomiah (or Jecaniah) Seaman 1718-1752 and Rachel Secor 1726-1759. Isaac's info seems more concrete. I have him born at Tarrytown, Westchester, NY and passing in Rockland County, NY. I have his parents as Jonathan Odell 1700-1753 and Helena Hunt 1715-1759. 3. Hi P26, I tried to do something similar with the Seamans from the West Country (mainly Somerset, but also Devon), a smaller group than the East Coast ones. I put the trees I had a few years ago on http://www.theseamans.net The data was collected over the years and the sources are less impressively documented than yours, so some of it could do with re-checking. If you're interested in re-using any of it or validating it against your data, let me know off-list and I can tell you which bits are out of date or less reliable. I've also tried tracking some of the better-documented families from other areas (eg The Dutton Seamans from London) - I'd be interested to find out if we have any overlapping trees. Best wishes Graham On 07/12/14 12:09, P26seaman via wrote: > Information: Seaman Family Genealogy (UK) > > > Web site: http://www.seamanfamilygenealogy.info > > > Welcome to my website! > > > > Having traced my own family line back to Suffolk, England to the 1500's, I became increasingly keen to connect all the UK 'SEAMAN' individuals in to their respective family trees, hence started on my current project to catalogue, trace, and connect all the other 'SEAMAN' individuals through census records, The National Archives, War Records and any other sources I can find to help piece together everyone's family trees. > > > > My current database has 70,000+ individuals, from 1500 - present day, and with over 14o trees currently assembled, tracked (where possible) with supporting source references. 2. Mary Sayman via
    3. Hello. To help you in your quest, I am going to provide you with some information. Then again, it may not help. My Seaman ancestors came from Germany. The original spelling of the surname was SÄMAN (SÆMAN), pronounced SAY-MAN. It got ‘anglicized’ to SEAMAN. While doing Genealogical research, I discovered no less than eight (8) spellings, and maybe more. My line immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1748 on the ship Patience and Marie. I have traced them back to 1620 in Germany; and another history indicates they may have come to Germany from Switzerland in the 1500s. My own 4th G-Grandfather did not help any when he again changed the spelling of the surname to SAYMAN in 1850 saying that he wanted his name to be pronounced the German way and not butchered. Some of my line lived in/around Elmira, NY. Others moved further north and west. If you are interested in this line, please let me know and I will provide you with the email address of Eric Storck, our family Genealogist. He has hundreds of thousands of records; and he may be able to help you in your quest to connect all the ‘dots’. Sincerely, Mary P Sayman marysaerie (at sign) stny (dot) rr (d0t) com Sorry to be cryptic, but I like to lessen the chances that high-jackers will steal my account. -----Original Message----- From: seaman-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:seaman-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of P26seaman via Sent: Sunday, December 07, 2014 7:10 AM To: SEAMAN@rootsweb.com Subject: [SEAMAN] Seaman Family Genealogy (UK) Information: Seaman Family Genealogy (UK) Web site: <http://www.seamanfamilygenealogy.info> http://www.seamanfamilygenealogy.info Welcome to my website! I do want to share findings, help others, and to have a comprehensive 'one stop shop' for 'SEAMAN' information. Other mis-spellings over time 'SEYMAN' 'SEMAN' and 'SEAMON' make life hard for searching, hence it is hoped this site will enable us to make new friends, find lost relatives and harness the power of collective research. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to <mailto:SEAMAN-request@rootsweb.com> SEAMAN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

I have been looking for information on Mary Hyland for years. She is my grandmother and married James Seaman as you know, they had a large family, one of which is my father, Walter Seaman. According to what information I could discover is Mary was born in Montreal and she died with James in North Dakota. If you have any information about your GGAunt, I would love to hear and share info with you. Cheers, Sylvia Hurley Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
