Hi, I want to let everyone on AOL know that for some reason, AOL is bouncing all the mail to those subscribers to this list. So, If you get bounced, you'll have to go after AOL, not me! <G> Just resub. They'll probably have it fixed shortly. Hi Again! All I can say is WoW! I posted one message and must have gotten 15 bouncing mail returns. I need everyone to please check your mail often so your mail doesn't bounce because of a full mail box. If you are going to change ISPs, unsubscribe first with the old address and resubscribe with the new one. Until I have gotten the list back in order, I have changed the settings so that all replies will go back to the list. If you want to email a person privately, just change the address to reflect that. If you post your surnames and areas you're searching, change the subject line to show that. Otherwise a lot of people will just delete it. Thanks, Norma from - Middletown, Ohio Family Page: http://www.angelfire.com/oh/myfamilygenes Gentry Records Page: http://members.tripod.com/~nanny_4/index.html Mail lists I manage: WERNER-L, KYPERRY-L, BAKER-L, OHBUTLER-L GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Hello Everyone! I'm Norma Adams and I have recently taken the job of being list administrator for the SE-Kentucky mail list. I've been doing genealogy for about 15 years and I also have the Perry Co Ky and Butler Co. Ohio mail lists. Plus a couple surname lists, Baker and Werner. My family roots are from SE Kentucky, with the Cornetts and Brashears and Baker, and on the Adams side, the Adams, Stamper, Lykins connections. I noticed from the archives the list has not been very active. How about getting something going here. I'd like to invite you all to introduce yourselves and post the names and areas you are researching. Have a nice evening! Just this morning I learned my father's half uncle, (Jessie) Floyd HASTY, was killed in the mines in KY. The index for KY deaths listed one Floyd Hasty death on 270602, which would not be a good date for me, since he wasn't born until 1903. However, I wonder if it's possible human error crept in and the year was 1922 or even 1932, not 1902? Is there anyone who could check for me in volume 027, certificate 13006 in Harlan Co., KY deaths? His parents were John Thomas Hasty and Alabama WILLIAMS Hasty. He was born in Indian Territory/OK. He left a young wife and son, both names unknown. If there are newspaper articles of a mine disaster in Harlan Co. on that date, it might confirm the year. Any help with this would be most appreaciated. I'm documentation rich and purse poor so would rather not buy still another certificate that might turn out wrong. Shirley Maynard MaeMay510@aol.com
I am seeking information on Rosie Arnett Jackson and Menifee Jackson. Rosie was the daughter of Ambrose and Sarah Jane Perkins Arnett and sister to Haden Arnett who died in Magoffin County in 1971, Bernie Arnett who died February 1966 in Breckenridge MN, Dudley Arnett (don't know what happened to him either), Warnie Arnett, Lillie Arnett who married Boone Jackson and lived in Lebanon OH (don't have date of death for her, but have his date of death as Feb. 2, 1966), Bert Arnett who married Julia Higgins (don't have much on them) and Martha Arnett who married Calloway Carty and lived most of her life in KY around Salyersville, Lexington and Ashland). Rosie had several children--Raleigh (Rollie, DOB 2/15/1912 in KY), Ollie, Arnett, Nannie(Nancy, DOB 1/13/1915 in KY) and Jewel, but I have little information on them, such as the DOB's for the remaining children, who they married or when and when they died, if they have. Haden was my grandfather and I am seeking any information on his siblings and/or their children. Thank you for your assistance. NELSON /EVANS REUNION-JULY 14TH All you Nelsons, related families and friends, don't forget the fourth annual Nelson Reunion for the descendants of Jave and Ellen Evans Nelson who were married in Anderson County in 1877. Although records list Jave as J. M. Nelson in Anderson County (and Jabers in one census record), a son's death certificate lists him as Thomas. Jave died in 1926, probably in Illinois, and is buried in Liberty Cemetary in Anderson County. Jave and Ellen's children included David, Henry, Catherine (Tadlock), Frank, Tom, Cynthia (Wilson), Page, Taylor, Sam, and Clara (Yerkes). Ellen's parents were Thomas and Permelia York Evans who came to Tennessee from Knox County, Kentucky. We would be thrilled to hear from any of their descendants. Their children included Hugh, Silas, Ellen, Mary (Phelps), Sintha, Thomas Milton, John, and Mary Ann. They were in Union County, TN, in 1880. Thomas Evans died in Anderson County in 1907 and is buried in Sunset Cemetary. The Nelson Reunion will be at the Farmers Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Saturday July 14, 2001, beginning about 11:00 A. M. in Clinton, Tennessee. There will be lots of fun and games for the kids to enjoy, and hopefully lots of pictures and genealogical material to be enjoyed by the older folks. And there's always lots of good food. For more information, contact Carolyn at <mamawcarolyn@ntown.com>. Hope to see you at the reunion. Carolyn Nelson Johnson
I am looking for the marriage of a Emeline SOARD and __?__ CAIN/CANE in early 1850's. Emeline Soard was born in Claiborne county, TN and Mr. Cain's father was from KY so I speculate the marriage was in Whitley or Bell county. Thanks, Richard rsoard@mindspring.com
Hi all. I have the Persi 2000 index and would be glad to look-up articles by surname or by county and state. Will then send you a list of all article titles that match your criteria. If there are any that catch your attention, I will be glad to make arrangements to get copies of any of the articles that you want. The Allen Co. Library has all of these periodicals. If you are not familiar with Persi, you need to be. Here is a description of Persi. Let me know if I can do a look-up from the index for you. Be pre-warned, there may be a long list of matches depending on the search you request. As an example, if you ask me for any articles pertaining to a particular County, you are likely to get a lengthy list of matches to look through. Don't get me wrong; I'll be glad to send the list to you, and as I mentioned, can then make arrangements to get copies of any that you feel may be helpful to you. The Periodical Source Index, or PERSI, is the largest and most widely used index of articles from genealogy and local history periodical articles in the world. PERSI began as a project of the Allen County Public Library in Ft Wayne, Indiana. Under the direction of Michael Clegg, their lofty goal was to gather all genealogical periodicals, both past and present, and index their contents. This growing database has become the largest dataset of its kind, and is renowned as a key to superior genealogical research. PERSI is a comprehensive subject index of periodical articles on genealogy and local history written in English and French (Canadian entries) since 1800. The collection also includes literature dating from the 1700s, although the collection before 1800 is less complete. PERSI is a work in progress--In the current May 2000 release, Allen County Public Library added more than 400,000 citations, bringing the total number of fully searchable records to more than 1.5 million. The index catalogs almost 5,500 different periodicals, listing every article according to locality, family (surname), and/or research method. I also offer various census look-ups and other research assistance from the Allen Co. library. They are the second largest genealogy library in the country with all census records for every state as well as tons of microfilms and published materials covering every state and county in the US. Please send any requests for look-ups directly to me at rexwb@jayco.net so we don't clutter the list with responses. Include either "Persi Look-up" or Allen Co. help" in the subject line so I don't miss your email. Let me know if you'd like a look-up. Rex I do Look-ups at the Second Largest Genealogy Library in the Country. Email me directly to inquire at rexwb@jayco.net
