Roy, what Roberts family are you researching. I too am looking for information on the Roberts from Caney Creek Pike County. Any info. would be appreciated. Becky
Norma, Besides putting the surnames in the subject line, remember to CHANGE the subject line when you change subjects. I forget to do this myself! I don't know whether to open an email or not when there is either a blank subject line or one that has been bouncing back and forth for days. Alice Braddy Davis Elmendorf, Texas DAVIS, ODEN,LOYD,EBLEN, ANDERSON, HOLLINGSWORTH, HIGGINBOTHAM, AYERS, BRADDY, MCNARY and more......
Hi Everyone, I just want to remind you that when you post your surnames to the list, to please put them on the subject line. You'll get better response to your posts if the other subscribers can see at a glance at least some of your surnames. A lot of people just delete the message if they can't tell at a glance what names might be included. Good Morning, Here's a site you might enjoy visiting. Click on Search and then put a place in the search box. Lots of great pictures! If you put in a county, don't abbreviate the word county or state. I've found it won't recognize abbreviations. http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/ammemhome.html Enjoy, Norma from - Middletown, Ohio Family Page: http://www.angelfire.com/oh/myfamilygenes Gentry Records Page: http://members.tripod.com/~nanny_4/index.html Mail lists I manage: WERNER-L, KYPERRY-L, BAKER-L, OHBUTLER-L GOD BLESS AMERICA!

D. I had assumed that my Lucinda Hensley's mother was the daughter of William Webb Sr. and Nancy Green because of the work of another researcher who had published information that I thought showed that to be the case. This winter, on a trip to the Ky Archives, I discovered that that is not a possibility. Unfortunately Lucinda's death certificate does not give a maiden name for her mother. So I am at one of those cross roads where I am pursuing other William Webbs...Your William Webbs below seem to be well documented by many researchers. I am also thinking that my next step is to look at the death certificates of all of Lucinda's siblings in hopes that someone recorded a maiden name for Issac Byrd Hensley's wife. Thanks for your response. I'll let you know if I find something. Marsha in WV "D. Tammy, I am interested in your Hensleys and your Osbornes. Any chance that your Hensley family is related to Soloman Hensley born circa 1779 in Virginia. Or to John Hensley who would have lived at one time in the area that is now Logan WV? Lucinda Hensley Sammons told her granddaughter that her Hensley family was from Albemarle County, Virginia. Do any of these facts "ring a bell" with you on your Hensley family. The man to which I connect for definite is Isaac Byrd Hensley who was living in Barboursville WV during the Civil War. I think that he and his wife had connections to Eastern Kentucky. I am not sure if he was from Ky or if it was his wife who is said to have been a Webb. I notice that there is an Isaac Hensley in the Floyd County, Ky marriage book 1800-1820 who married Rebecca Perkins 11 Dec 1817. This is not my man....my Isaac Byrd was not born until 1810 and this is the wrong bride...But I could not help but wonder if he might be a relative of some sort. Anyone know who he is? Or know if he was from Albemarle County? I also have Osbornes. Edna Elan(?) Osborne who married Roland Sammons 7 Jun 1821 in Floyd County. Last September I read a very interesting account of Edna's father's (Edward) supposed murder of David and Bill Morgan. It was microfilm #1321386 which I ordered from my local LDS FHL. It was a copy of Genealoby of Edward and Sarah (Burchett) Osborn of Floyd County Kentucky by Donald Lewis Osborn. Anyone acquainted with the story? Anyone have remarks to make from more indepth study of the event than I have done? This material that I read and filed is a VERY interesting account of EdwardÂ’s having murdered David and his son, Bill Morgan. Edward Osborne owed David money. A suit referred to in the court records Aril 29 and April 30, 1813 mentions the debt. Another suit Oct. 28, 1813 with Samuel Osburn and infant by Edward Osburn his father next friend against William Morgan indicates that the murders did not occur until after October 28, 1813. The next time that the court met was April 25, 1814. The grand jury brought an indictment against Edward Osburn for murder. But there are several entries all through April where Edward is not found. and there seem to be entries on into 1817...There are definitely two stories. One is that Edward escaped and lived out the rest of his life about 250 miles from home. The other is that Edward was quietly lynched and buried. His children did not believe that a man the size of their father could have fit through the hole that was shown to have appeared in the old log jail. Has this been talked about at length on one of the maillists before?
