    1. [SE-KENTUCKY] Parkins/Perkins Y chromosome DNA Study August Update
    2. Steven C. Perkins
    3. Hello: This is an update on the Parkins/Perkins surname Y DNA study. We now have 13 participants, 8 have sent back their tests and 5 have received results that are posted on the web page at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~scperkins/PerkinsDNA.html The study is trying to determine the possible relationships among the various Parkins and Perkins immigrant lines in the colonial period. If you are a male named Parkins or Perkins or a variant you can join the study by sending me an email. The details and the cost are listed on the web page. Most of the current participant's ancestors came through VA and NC to TN and KY. Perkins wives, sisters or daughters can sponsor a test of a close male Perkins to determine their Perkins Y DNA signature. Let me know if you have questions. Regards, Steven C. Perkins SPerkins@interaccess.com http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~scperkins/

By Mary Green $11.00 Yes - I have the above listed set of books. Unfortunately the information found in them is not considered "proof" - it falls into the "hearsay" category. To the best of my knowledge, Thomas & Francis (JACKSON) HOWARD had the following children: Moses b ca 1797; William b ca 1799; Matilda b ca 1802; Letty b ca 1802; and Cynthia b ca 1803. Ohhh - perhaps I'm misreading what you wrote. The descendants of the families listed above are in the books. NSDAR only has Elizabeth, d/o Lewis, Jr, as having been married to --- Stapleton (no first name). I do know that the Elizabeth Green I'm looking for was w/o James Howard - but no positive proof from official records of even that fact. I have even been in touch with Elizabeth Salyer on the subject. She has been unable to offer any specifics either. Thanks anyway. 2. Hello List ~ ~ I need assistance proving that Elizabeth Green who married James Howard is indeed a daughter of Lewis Green, Jr & Esther Kilgore. Most researchers say that Elizabeth married a Stapleton - I don't have proof of that either, and don't care at this point. But I do need some direction to get me past this brick wall of her parentage. So far all I have for evidence is hearsay/tradition. I believe Elizabeth was b ca 1780 in Russel Co, VA and d 7 Jul 1855 in Quicksand, Breathitt Co, KY As we all know, there are no (or very few) birth/death certs in KY during that timeframe. Thanks, Laurie Levy Royal Oak, MI
