I've "rescued" an old photograph album which includes some photographs belonging to the HALE Family. The first is a photograph of Ethel HALE, taken in the early 1900's it notes that she is "Hesper's Sister". There is no location or photographer identified on this photograph. The second photograph has the name J.P. HALE and "Ethel & Parents" listed on the back of the photograph. This photograph was likely taken in the 1880's when Ethel was just a toddler and her parents were in their 30's or 40's. I don't know that J.P. HALE is the man in the photograph or if the photo was being given to him. The third photograph is a group photograph including Ethel HALE at age 3, taken at the Quiggle & Johnson Studio at Rapid City, South Dakota. The photograph was likely taken in the 1890's and includes J.C. EGGLESTON age 59, Edward H. SWANDER age 11, Harry V. SWANDER age 5, and Ethel. The HALE name appears a fourth time on an empty slot in the album where someone has handwritten the name Alice MCELERHAN HALE. With very limited research I did find an M. Alice MCELHERAN and John P. HALE living in Lawrence, SD and having children there in 1897 and 1898. The two boys are Lloyd Preston HALE and Noel Mack HALE. There is obviously some connection, however, I've no idea what it might be. I'm hoping that someone connected with this family can be located so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to the families.
