Dear Stella, Thank you so much for the 1890 reconstructed census info for Engels! Yes, I would be interested in Farrells in the Rapid City area if you see any. You are very helpful! Sincerely, Katherine

(Siegmund) age 37, born Germany; Barney, age 15; Gussie, age 12; Ernest Carl, age 11; Louise K., age 8 ENGEL, L. resided or owned land in Rapid City; Lena, age 16; William, age 13 There are several FARRELL listings--let me know if you want them. Stella
Dear Pennington List, I was curious as to whether there is a death index for South Dakota, and if so, if some kind person would be willing to check to see if there is a Kate/Katherine? A. ENGEL listed between 1890 and 1899. Her maiden name was FARRELL. Her husband August C. ENGEL was my great-grandmother's brother. The family lost touch of him so he is a bit of a mystery. August and Kate married 22 october 1890 in Rapid City, So. Dakota. Kate must have died between then and 1900, because he remarried in 1900 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I would love to fill in some pieces of his life. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. Sincerely, Katherine

My great-grand father, Hugh Lindsay and wife Kezia were there from Aug 1881 to May of 1892. Lived in Rapid City (ran mill) and then had a farm east of Farmingdale (purchases in 84 and 87). Would be interested if you had a census or other local records from that area that might include them. Thank you.

I live in Rapid City but am in Salt Lake right now. The Collins Studio was around the turn of the century, maybe a little later. When I return home I can probably find the information for you if someone hasn't already given it. Stella
