Select proper surname category and scroll to "Carl Ojala". Address for BH National Cem. is 20901 Pleasant Valley Dr., Sturgis, SD & phone is 605-347-3830 The Fort Meade VA Medical Center is also a medical facility and veterans home close by, and they may also be able to give you information if that was where he lived. It is possible that he was placed in a private nursing home in the area, through the VA, as that is very commonly done. Ft. Meade's phone # is 605-347-2511 and is located near Sturgis, SD. They would be able to tell you how to go about getting the records and whether they are available to you. Have you checked Social Security records? Hope this will be helpful.

We believe he had spent much of his life in Veterans Homes, all in South Dakota. Carl's brother John Evert Ojala may also have lived in South Dakota near the end of his life, but we have no records on John (b. 5 Jan 1883). I would like to find out if they had any family members (wife, children) in South Dakota, and any other details of their life in S.D. If I knew the Veterans Home, maybe I can request a copy of the files (are they available to family members?). Any help would be welcome. Bob Ojala [email protected]

Don, I looked in the index to obituaries that the Rapid City Society for Genealogical Research has developed and found Eleanor's name. Her info is as follows: Stewart, Eleanor G. 89 8 Mar 2000 Rapid City, SD Cumberland, MD 10 Mar 2000 B2 That means it is on page B2 of the Mar 10 edition. I will forward your request to a couple of researchers in the Society. I believe there may be a $5.00 charge or so for the actual obituary, etc. Good luck.
