His name is Jack and he passed away November 07, 2000. Shortly afterwards, Joann moved in with her mother, Inez Tidemann, who is now near 100 years old. Joann passed away February 29, 2004 in Sioux Falls. Inez had married Leonard Tidemann. Inez is the daughter of Joseph Ingemund Aasen and Marit (Mary) Oldsdaughter Aspaas. Aspaas is also related to me. My great grandmother is Marit (Mary) Larsdatter Aspaas and married Nels Nelson (see below). Joseph Aasen's parents are; Sivert (Sievert) Aasen and Susanna (Susan) Nelson (aka: Nilson). Susanna's parents are Iver Evjen (Nilson) Nelson and Mali Pettersdatter Flaaum (Molly Mollie Flaaen). Iver is the oldest brother to Jonas (John) Nelson and Nels Nelson. Nels Nelson is my great grandfather. Jonas (John) Nelson was the first to settle the Mapleton Township in Mi! nnehaha County. His best friend was John Thompson. My great great grandfather is Nils Ivarsen Evjen Fossmoe who married Susanna Jonasdatter Nessan in Meråker, Nørd-Trødelag, Norway. They were the very first who emigrated to America from Meråker in 1854. Nils was the organizer and leader of this first group. I attended the 150 Year Jubilee in Meråker in the fall of 2004. A time I will never forget.
