This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/0gB.2ACI/49.1.3 Message Board Post: Dear Mariann: As I said, I had not followed your information on Kristoffer Stokken from the beginning. Sometimes we call that "following the thread" of information. I was following a message posted by Stephanie Beloit on March 13, 2004. I have worked with Stephanie on other researches. I n her message, she gave the name, birthdate, and the place of birth given as Stordoen. My information sure sounded right. First I looked in the book that Stephanie mentioned and then I read a couple of other Minnehaha History books but found nothing on your Kristoffer. Even if you had found him in 1900 in a census or other site, it would be very likely he had moved away to another place. You know how restless these Norwegians can be! When I need some clues, I often go to the surname navigator site. The URL is listed in my previous message. I went through Norway and then US. It is a great web site and there were several messages you had written in the Rootsweb Message Board. I should have read them all, I read only one. Using the July 2, 1866, along with Stord in Hordaland, when I came to the Family History Page, given in the surname navigator web site, I thought I had found your Kristoffer. It is obvious that I did not. That is what I get for not following your inquiry from the very beginning. The information that I sent to you was Christian and not the right man, so my help was given with the joy of research, but I failed in the end result. Stephanie must have the wrong information too, but I am sure she tried just as hard as I did. She does a lot of Hordaland research, so there again, I thought I had found your man. Thank you for your reply and I am so sorry for mistake, Ardell Sortomme Drube of Greeley, Colorado
