I believe that there might be some decendants of his son Roy Doman, who still live in the area, possibly on the same farm? I am the grandson of Frank's other son, Orval "Felix" Doman and am hoping to perhaps exchange info on the family history. I believe Roy died on Feb 1, 1959 in Valley Springs, but have been unable to see his obituary. Thank you. Doug Doman
Would sks please tell us who live out of state what the recently passed SD Public Records Law now entails? Will research requests by mail or email no longer be honored? Thank you. Jean in Ohio

Consequently, a lookup (at the Courhouse) takes only a few minutes. In addition, marriage records from Sioux Falls that predate that time (though they may be sporadic) are located in a three-ring binder at the Courthouse and can be perused by those folks who have paid their dues to the South Dakota Genealogical Society. I am a Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness volunteer for Minnehaha County and will be glad to do a marriage search for you if you E-mail me at <[email protected]> I do have a backlog of such searches since all the public was bumped off the county computers effective with the recently enacted June 1 SD public records law, but I will place you in the order of requets received, if you desire. Yes, I did mean 1893 and my family and census records indicate a Sept. 1893 birth of Jacob F. Roth. Family report he died in S. Dakata, but I don't as yet have any confirmation of this or a death date. I am fairly certain that one of his sons, Clair, moved to CA and died in Kern County. I am working to obtain his death record. Clair was born abt. 1913 and did die abt 7/3/1974. What information might you have about Clair? Also, Jacob C. Roth, my great grandfather did indeed have a second wife named Isabelle. His first wife, Elizabeth, Jacob and Isabelle all died in Nebraska. I know of no Roth relatives who lived in NY/NJ. Isabelle was born about 1874 and did die in 1941 in Fremont, NE. Thanks for any information about my Roth's in S. Dakota.

Our ancestors certainly were hardy, hard working "survivors"! Eva (SCHERR) SILVERNAGEL was 4 months pregnant when this accident happened. Five months later she gave birth to her (1st?) son, Joseph SILVERNAGEL on 16 Oct 1920 in Strasburg, ND. Eva SCHERR was the middle child of at least 11 children of Michael Scherr & Regina Welk [per the 1910 census in Strasburg, Emmons co, ND] Bismark Tribune 13 May 1920: Womans Leg is Torn Off at Knee By Wheel: Mrs. Stephen Silvernagel of Strasburg Suffers from Strange Accident: Mrs. Stephen Silvernagel, 21 year old wife of a farmer living 10 miles from Strasburg is in a local hospital recovering from an amputation of her left leg above the knee made necessary as the result of an accident which resulted in the leg being torn off at the knee. Although suffering from the loss of blood and shock, Mrs. Silvernagel is expected to recover, her physician, Dr. F. H. Strauss stated today. Mrs. Silvernagel was plowing on the farm while her husband in an adjoining field was seeding. As she was nearing the end of the last furrow, Mrs. Silvernagel in some unaccountable manner slipped and her left foot got caught in the wheel of the plow. She called to the horses to stop when she felt herself falling but the animals kept going several yards. Tourniquet Made: As the wheel continued to revolve it twisted Mrs. Silvernagel's leg several times until it was torn off at the knee. This twisting caused the nerves and blood vessels to be drawn down and they became so tightened as to prevent the flow of blood through the several veins. Mr. Silvernagel, hearing his wife's screams, rushed to her side, tore a piece of her dress and bandaged the torn limb; placed his wife in an automobile and drove to Bismark, a distance of 75 miles. She was operated on eight hours after the accident occurred.
