She was born on 12/27/1887 in rural Trent, South Dakota. Her parents' names were not mentioned. I'm not sure where I came up with Anders. I believe her mother's name was Ella. In the 1900 census I found Alvina listed as a servant with her brother Jens. By 1909 she was living in Iowa. She also had siblings named Harry, Emma, and Ina, and Arch. All were born in South Dakota in the Trent/Dell Rapids vicinity.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0gB.2ACI/274.1.2.1.2 Message Board Post: Neglected to list the source used for the information I previously posted - The Jordal farm in Odda - Guro listed with parents and siblings on pages 76-77, volume 3-2 of the multi-volume bygdebøker "Odda, Ullensvang og Kinsarvik i gamal og ny tid" by Olav Kolltveit. Most, if not all, of that work is available on LDS microfilm #1124552. The Hildal farm information begins on page 470 of volume 3-1, Bakke farm on page 267 of volume 3-2, and the farms mentioned for other Odda area farms such as Reinsnos, Tveit, and Eitrheim are also included in those two volumes. That multi-volume bygdebøker consists of 8 volumes and the books are numbered 1 and 2 (history of the entire area); 3-1 and 3-2 (Odda area farm histories); 4-1 and 4-2 (Ullensvang area farm histories); 5-1 and 5-2 (Kinsarvik area farm histories). There is also another 5-volume work that was earlier published, the Ættar-bok series by A.K. Bu. Those books were done earlier and show more influence of the interesting spelling peculiarites for the region. They can be found on LDS microfilms #1259725 and #1259728. These same bygdebøker and ættar-bøker books will also give information about Lars and Trond "Berven" family history - but those will be contained under the various farm names mentioned in the Ullensvang and Kinsarvik volumes. I would never recommend using ONLY bygdebøker or ættar-bøker to research a family tree as they are secondary sources. The parish church records, probate records and other sources for Odda, Ullensvang and Kinsarvik are also available on LDS microfilms and are the more primary sources to use to verify information and obtain more detail than given in the secondary sources.
